So it is 4 days before the Scores 20th anniversary party roast, & they are still running commercials for it 24-7. Tickets must be selling at a record slow pace.

Are there any CSFMB mic sniffers who are actually going? Anyone?

Gotta love those commercials!

A few days before the monstrously awesome event and they are still telling us that the tickets are "selling at a record pace!!!" so "get yours while there is still time!!!" Are they holding this at Soldier Field or something?

These tickets have been selling at a record pace for about 2 months or whenever it was announced....you'd think they would have sold out in 3 days from the "Record Pace!" pronouncements.

Saying things are selling at a record pace is just an old sales technique. Bernstein did this for his charity thing too. It's to get people that are on the fence thinking they might be shut out.

The price is fair. 100 for food and and open bar is worth it. I don't think it's selling well cuz most people don't want to spend their disposable income for a night with strangers. That just sounds dumb to me. Rather spend $100 with friends or family for a night out. Or a strip club. Not to spend time with these Score things and Score listeners. I do get you guys at CSFMB that want to go cuz a lot of you are friends. That makes sense. I just don't get why a random listener would want to go.

Boers, Bernstin and Goff are pushing hard the fact that drinky will be a great host. The harder they push it the more you know they don't believe it. C'mon? It's drinky. He's a radio producer, not a master of ceremonies. He's gonna have a rum and coke in his hand telling bad jokes. Goff and Drinky will be the laugh track so he feels good about himself. That's about it. Score isn't gonna hire a pro so they sell the fact that drinky is sooooooooooo great. What's the big event of the night? A round table discussion talking about how they're all weirdos and mentioning whom they all hate? Really? That's fun? We've heard all this shit anyway.

If they just said it's gonna be food and booze they'd get the same amount of people. Don't tell us how great the round table will be.

No. I just don't read most of the posts on this board as there are way too many to go through on a daily basis.

I heard Goff make some snide remark that he thought it was wrong that producers had to pay to go to this thing. C'mon Goff. Who's gonna pay for the producers? The station (Mitch:  )? The listeners (They all pay $110 so producers can get in free)? How many producers at the Score? 15 or so? So $1,500 that somebody else has to put up? Really? That's what you think should happen? It's not like you guys are a draw or anything. You guys are no more significant than any random listener going. Nobody is coming to see a radio producer. I assume the full time hosts have to pay, so why the hell wouldn't the producers?

The Score Producers have to pay to attend this event? Really? That is low rent. I knew that Mitch couldn't evaluate talent or lead, but this is just ridiculous. It is good to reward employees for success.

Employees who are required to attend shouldn't have to pay to go.

I really don't have any desire to attend this, but when it comes to WSCR staff going, they should get fully comped. They should be the ones that they talk it up to -- that this is the sort of thing a young McNeil would have gone to in order to bend the ear of those in a higher position. They should act like this is a tough ticket to get, and they should also eat the $40 per person it costs them to have someone out there. $40 to inspire someone for two months is a pretty decent deal. For something like the Score, there is no shame in trying to go cult atmosphere like Apple within your ranks. These guys all think they will be the next Bernstein or Hanley or whomever, so why not encourage that? Give them something to make them spend an extra 40 minutes in the production room or feel like when they piss next to Spiegs in the bathroom that they are gaining some sort of street cred. I want my young talent hungry as hell so that I can get rid of my bloated guys when they ask for more money -- they can go on the Big John and Amy show for a third of their salary while I pay a half of their original salary for their replacement and it is two and a half times his prior salary. Or the bloated guys are smart, hang on for a 2% increase YOY, and the youngster takes an opportunity in Duluth or Des Moines. Either way, it is a good way to run things.

No. Mitch really can't do that. Think about it. He comps the producers and then update people will want a comp. Then the sales staff will want a free ticket. Then some of the hosts will think they shouldn't have to pay. Then it adds up. Then it's like 5k or 6k of comps that the Station pays for. The banquette hall has to get paid. They don't care who the hell is in attendence. It's a business to them.

This isn't unique to the Score. Every corporation has dinners or golf outings that the employees have to pay for. Not always. Some companies pick up the tab for certain things, but not in these economic times.

I vaguely remember a host making mention of this event sucking. Can't quite remember who it was, but I'm sure bigfan can help. Whomever it was, sounds like the guy was right on the money with his warning. Maybe you should start a thread and thank him. Better yet, you should offer the guy a nice strong handshake.......only to be ignored....jus playin.

I did hear a commercial for this today. You would think that it would have been sold out by now.

Plus everybody at the Score probably brings a guest. So they get comped too? Then it's like 10k or 12k that the Station has to pay for.

Mitch:

Exacty. That's why Mitch can't do it.

As I said, poorly promoted and if Matty was not the MC, I would tell you that anarchy would ensue.

Should have been "SCORES 20th ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE SHOW" Hosted by Matt Abbattacola.

A night of drinking with Matty is an entertaining evening.

You're right. I guess I mean it's different for what the Score is doing with this event. It's not like a Christmas party for just the staff. To me it seems like everybody going - hosts, producers and listeners - are all seen as equals at this dinner. It's not like anybody from the Score is performing besides Drinky.

Sure, the Score could pay for everybody. I'll bet they could afford it. But Mitch would rather spend 10 to 12k on more important station needs. Like Mac's and Bernstein's bonus. Hell, they don't even send anybody to the Super Bowl anymore. So you know Mitch and Zim don't like to throw money around. Didn't they also cut the salary for part time hosts? Goff has cried about that a few times. So you know times are tougher at the Score than they once were.

Isn't the banquet hall comped in exchange for the 20,000 commercials for this event that the Score has ran & they mention the name of the hall? Asking employees to pay for an anniversary party is ridiculous. Every company that I have worked for has had anniversary & social events & they were all free.

That's a good point. All I know is I heard Jason kind of drop how it wasn't right that producers had to pay for this. Maybe the Hall gave the Score like 20 or 30 free passes and those were given to the Chiefs at the station and Jason was sticking up for the little Indians.

Maybe Mitch made the Hall pay for the right to host this big event and have their name mentioned on the commercials, didn't ask for free passes, and just pocketed the money for the station while making his Score crackers pay just like the lowley, god awful listeners.

They're talking about the roast now. Matty says they will be giving tickets away on Friday during B&B at Real Time.

Is anyone going to RTS?

Bump. No one, except me?

There were at least a good 7-8 of us at the B&B roast......and that was $75.....I didn't know that $25 was that much more...
