Totally justifiable if he is fired though.

Cant fight at work. Pretty simple and reasonable rule.

Guys, didn't Comcast SportsNet a while back show Kendall Gill actually box during a special series on "SportsNet Central" a while back? I could've sworn they did.

Yeah, sanctioned boxing matches are not the same as punching a co worker.

Factually speaking, Tim Doyle & Kendall Gill are indeed co-workers with BTN. Then again, so was Sarah Kustok before she left for YES Network. What I was referring was a special series a while back...

SHARK, I posted that a person should be fired if they are violent in the workplace.

Do you agree?

"Referring to." Also acceptable would be, "the item to which I was referring."

More than justifiable, it is almost mandatory.

Anyway, does Kendall have such scary talent in the booth that you make any exception for him. He's gone. I wonder if Derek Harper is hanging around the Chicago area?

So is Gill. He has to be pushing 50 and has a family.

Enjoy the firing. I hope it was worth it and you most likely aren't getting another chance in the business.

Kendall won't be fired. It didn't happen on camera or anything, so he's good. It's not like he has a history with this sort of thing. He'll be given a leave, he'll issue an apology and all will be forgiven.

We will see. As I said, I don't think it is even a question that he is gone and deservedly so.

this is the story buried in the story. It sounds like it was a pillow fight and the reporter is calling out either side's ability to draw blood.

I think it hinges a lot on the workplace itself and whether or not there's a "Zero Tolerance" policy. I'm not an attorney. Comcast SportsNet actually aired something a while back showcasing Kendall Gill training to become a boxer in his post-NBA career.

I'm not sure what was said between him & BTN's Tim Doyle, whom I've gotten the impression he can be kinda smug & full of himself. From everything I've read, and continue to read for that matter, the incident occurred in the CSNC newsroom and not on air. 670 The SCORE's Mac & Ben Finfer tried to ask CSNC's Mark Schanowski about the incident and Schanowski couldn't comment 2 hours ago.

Outside of defending yourself, there is NEVER a reason to fight at work, SHARK.

Training to be a boxer has nothing to do with it.

What if someone thought you were smug? (You're not smug at all)
Would you be ok if they punched you?

The refs did not review Koufus' basket, which was basket interference as the ball was clearly on the rim. They said they wouldn't review it because they didn't call it interference.

The refs called Noah's basket good on the floor and then George Karl yelled at them and told them to review it. Using the above logic they shouldn't have reviewed the 2nd one either. If you look at the replay closely the ball was short of the rim. Noah tipped the ball before it was in the cylinder.

The call was correct. The ball doesn't have to be in the cylinder. It just has to have a chance to touch the rim.

The decision to review the call was not correct. They told Thibs that they didn't review the offensive interference on the Nuggets because it wasn't called on the court. The same thing happened with Noah but the refs decided to review that. It was bullshit.

Wrong. It has to have a chance to go in.

It was short of the rim. It wasn't going in.

I didn't know this, buy Kenny Mauer is Joe Mauer's cousin.

Rule 11g:

Player shall not touch any live ball from within the playing area that is on its downward flight with an opportunity to touch the basket ring. This is considered to be a "field goal attempt" or trying for a goal.

They called it offensive interference. It was according to the rulebook.

Goaltending and Basket Interference is the same thing. Here's the whole rule.

RULE NO. 11-BASKETBALL INTERFERENCE-GOALTENDING
Section I-A Player Shall Not:
a. Touch the ball or the basket ring when the ball is using the basket ring as its lower base.
EXCEPTION: If a player near his own basket has his hand legally in contact with the ball, it is not a violation if his contact with the ball continues after the ball enters the cylinder, or if, in such action, he touches the basket.
b. Touch the ball when it is above the basket ring and within the imaginary cylinder.
c. For goaltending to occur, the ball, in the judgment of the official, must have a chance to score.
d. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball after it has touched any part of the backboard above ring level, whether the ball is considered on its upward or downward flight.
e. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball after it has touched the backboard below the ring level and while the ball is on its upward flight.
f. Trap the ball against the face of the backboard. (To be a trapped ball, three elements must exist simultaneously. The hand, the ball and the backboard must all occur at the same time. A batted ball against the backboard is not a trapped ball.)
g. Touch any live ball from within the playing area that is on its downward flight with an opportunity to touch the basket ring. This is considered to be a "field goal attempt" or trying for a goal.
h. Touch the ball at any time with a hand which is through the basket ring.
i. Vibrate the rim or backboard so as to cause the ball to make an unnatural bounce.
PENALTY: If the violation is at the opponent's basket, the offended team is awarded two points, if the attempt is from the two point zone and three points if it is from the three point zone. The crediting of the score and subsequent procedure is the same as if the awarded score has resulted from the ball having gone through the basket, except that the official shall hand the ball to a player of the team entitled to the throw-in. If the violation is at a team's own basket, no points can be scored and the ball is awarded to the offended team at the free throw line extended on either sideline. If there is a violation by both teams, play shall be resumed by a jump ball between any two opponents at the center circle.

The correct call of goaltending, or basket interference, was made.

If any of those things occur, it is basket interference/goaltending.

They fucked up in reviewing one and not the other, not in the call.

You're wrong.

If any of those violations occur, the penalty is assessed based on the situation.

The officials made the correct call.

Like I said, I agree that the procedure to review the call was where they were wrong.

If that's what the ref said, then he's a moron. And he got lucky that the rule says the play was basket interference.

Q, read the rule. The play was offensive interference. The basket should not count.

There is no debate. The correct call was made.
