This is the correct answer. Smug Hub exposing his Michigan arrogance/bias

What QB's would still be available at spot 10? Taking Marvin Harrison Jr and then a QB at 10 would be great if the guy Poles liked was still there. I'm pretty much open to anything that doesn't involve bringing back Fields as the starting QB. As Mike Singletary said "can't do it!"

Penix should be there. A lot of draft guys say he won't even go in the first round.

Idk. There was some draft wonk on ESPN this morning saying that he could climb into the top 2 QBs

Interesting. I have a hard time believing Penix won't go in the top 10, but I'm not sure about the top two. Which QB did the analyst think was going to fall--Maye or Williams?

He did not really expand on it much. They were talking about how much Monday could impact the draft projections of McCarthy and Penix. He said that it could make an impact especially for Penix. He said Penix was the guy who was going to be moving up draft boards and then showed a couple clips of Penix throwing guys open after stepping up in the pocket. He seemed to think Penixs injury forced him to become a better overall QB and that he was no longer the guy who just looked to take off at first sign of trouble. He said he could see potentially Penix moving up to be in the top 2 QBs taken this year. but did not say which one of the other guys may slip.

Yeah, Penix threw guys open a bunch in the Texas game. I've seen Maye do some of that, but Penix has been more impressive to me in my limited exposure to both of them. I would definitely take a long look at Penix if I were Poles.

It's early and things will change, but the Bears aren't taking a QB at #10 (or so). They aren't going to settle on what would probably be the #3-#5 ranked QB by most "experts" when they have a chance to get the top one.

At best, for your scenario, they would trade out of #1, get several picks, and position themselves to get a guy in Round 2 or 3 as sort of a protection for Fields (both against injury/performance and the importance of the position).

Do you think Poles likes when Penix goes deep?

I'll be surprised if he does.

Lefty QB's are such an anomaly in the NFL. And the NFL wants things to be as static as possible.

He's 70 and in poor health.

I'd say he's doing pretty well for himself all things considered.

Is his Patreon page basically a Go Fund Me because he is in dire financial straits, or is he providing some kind of product/information to the contributors in exchange for the money?

If I recall, at least that was for one of her countless podcasts (which had some value I suppose, at least to report back here!) and not her ludicrous Go Fund Me where she said she needed money to buy a dress for an award ceremony.

I listened to Brad Biggs' take what Hub had said in the setup (that Hub had not received his usual text from Bears regarding the Friday Halas schedule) and completely throw him under the bus...Biggs made it sound like nothing was going to happen (how is that going to help?)...that was about 8:40am...so yeah nice work from the insider

Hub must dislike the regular hosts on the Score as when he interviews with weekenders and evening hosts he takes not so veiled shots at them . He says they present opinions as facts. He contends Eberfleus never lost the locker room and to say he did is incorrect. When I listen to the Score I expect to hear the hosts (and sometimes the callers) opinions. Its when they have the beat reporters or national voices on I expect facts.
I understand why they relegated Hub to off hours and made him "senior sports analyst".

There's definitely friction between Hub and the Score's regular trash hosts with all the shots he takes at them.

Remember Jason's big podcast episode explaining why he didn't come back to the Score this fall? He said that Hub Arkush getting 6p-10p shifts instead of him was his breaking point for leaving the Score for Atlanta: if management really wanted to give airtime to the publisher of a well-known football magazine over Jason Goff, then he couldn't stay there anymore.

I feel like Hub is a spent force at this point and that Mitch just puts him on here and there as an act of kindness. I don't think he even does Bears pre/post anymore, just Black Friday morning shows, apparently. I mean, guy did have a stroke. or a heart attack. I forget which.

Hub is almost 72 and nearly died a year ago. I give him a pass.

Jason, for all his bravado, wishes he had the career Hub has had.

Spent countless hours leafing through Hub's Pro Football Weekly Draft Guide back in the day.

Seems as if he missed the boat and could have reinvented himself into one of the countless Draft Guys like Kiper who seem to make a comfortable living yapping away about the draft.

His biggest miss was not seeing the change from to digital content, clinging to old school concepts like print, WSCR, and RSNs while his family business declined.

The biggest tell for Hub is when he talks politics, and old hippie who still thinks it's 1970 and he's the smartest guy in the room, he is a lot like George McKaskey in that they were given a family business, George if of course protected by NFL TV money while Hub has to scramble to pay the bills.
