There is a reason Dan and Terry are chicago sports radio legends and that Murph is an afterthought.

Blow it out your ass Hawaii.

Shaky wasn't good because he thought he was Rich Little half the time and his impressions weren't very good.

I was fine with Telender. I like him as a person and he was honest.

Dan has something up his ass it seems when it comes to people who perceives aren't as good as him or undeserved of the gig. Maybe that was Dan then, It looks like he's mellowed out since. But I dont know why he needs to berate these people like 10 years later like a kindergarten school boy at recess. let it go.

I dont' consider them radio legends. Not together. HFC was great but it didnt last enough years to be lengedary. Dan is great at his job, I give you that. Every show he's been on w/ whoever he's succeeded. But he doesnt need to do this berating of Murph everytime he's on the air w/ Terry.

I never liked Terry on the radio except with Dan /HFC. To me after he lost McNeil he started not to care. Even w/ Bernstein.

LoHo and Drinky opinions on Murph mean nothing to me, both have shown that they are snakes.

I think producer Cy accused Murph of being racist.

I always enjoyed Murph's thoughts and listened to him when he was at WLS and the Score.

When I think of the Score, its Mac, Boers, and Murph as my favorites.

Ya I think you're right, I think it was Cy. There were 2 others through those years but they just complained about Murph being abusive to them. Or what they thought was abusive.

I'm w/ you, when I think of the score, I think of north/jiggs, HFC, Murph, Jhood, and George Offman.

They are legends in Chicago sports radio. HFC was together 5,6 years? Pretty long time if you ask me. The one day Murph bashing was fine; Shep and Loho jumping in killed it.

HY they are Chicago sports legends whether you want to admit it or not.

I know you love Murph and always want to defend him, but that does not change the reality.

As Warner Wolf would say, Dan and Terry are household names in their own households.

For Cubs fans of a certain age, Murph has a place in history that Terry and Danny B can only write about.

North & Jiggs together yes, but North going solo hurt his legacy by including politics into his talk. Fred and Anne as his co-hosts weren't good chemistry; North needed a little pushback from his co-hosts.

I forgot Doug & OB doing Bears postgames as a favorite Score listen. I like the WGN postgame now, but its not Doug & OB.

they also did it on terry's last day show like 2 years ago. Dan wasn't working then but first thing out of his mouth was Murph bashing when he was introduced.

If Murph is so bad to work with, I wonder why Fred never left? I heard that when Murph was offered the am1000 show that he demanded Fred be also his partner. Fred is great too. Very professional. Maybe it's a generational thing. The guys like Drinky and Larry needed to be coddled more then.

HFC grew on me back then. I thought North Jiggs was the best show but after 5 years HFC was the best show then. Ya it sucked they had to be broken up. But that's radio.

 of course you couldnt because you dont want to deal with reality.

Dan and Terry have been a part of three of the greatest shows in the history of Chicago sports radio. You cannot change those facts. Your chubby for Murph does not change it.

Ya North solo just killed the station. That was around the time i started not listening. OB/Doug was great, especially during the Wanne era when the bears sucked. JHood was awesome too.

Let's give him a coupon to Brown's Chicken

I was and still am a big fan of Murph's baseball thoughts. Murph was my Baseball guy, HFC was my basketball/comedy fix, and the Monsters were my football & meatball fix.

why does one have to correlate w the other? Murph had the best ratings on the score for like 6 years running. I'm just saying them making fun of Murph doesn't negate the fact of the big #'s he was pulling in. I wonder if Dan/Terry were jealous of Murph for those #'s. Maybe they couldn't/didnt understand how Murph was doing so well. I dont understand why they need to berate the guy.

2nd Poster of the Day!

Murph should be doing every cubs post game on the score today. Mega ratings.

I would like to see the numbers on that stuff from back then. Murph guys always want to say that he had the best ratings for such and such period. Is this history recorded somewhere to look at?

i remember back on the old board they were. i forgot the guys name but he would post the #'s once they came out. but even those producers that hated him would admit murph had the best #s on the station and it showed on their paychecks.

I suspect there is quite a bit of exaggeration taking place

no i dont think so. i think you're saying that because dan/terry need to make fun of murph everytime and it translate into thinking murph was an idiot that had no clue what he was doing. I think that's why they do it. for some reason they may be jealous or something. who knows what the office politics were during that time.

like when they talk about murph wearing the leather pants. so what. what does that have to do w/ anything. Then Mac wearing Zubas makes him not a good radio guy?

Murph beat M&M but Boers & Berstein were unable to hold that lead. I also believe that before he was replaced by Danny Mac, Murph was beating ESPN and again, B&B were unable to hold that lead in the PM drive.

ya when it comes to baseball especially cubs baseball nobody in this town is better than murph. and why does he have such a big following and loyal fan base - because he is honest about the cubs. when they suck he tells us what we all think and feel. and when they're good, murph like all of us old PTSD cub fans is trying to find something that will make everything go down the drain

I'm out of step Charlie. I like Murph. But, Murph bashing is hilarious and a huge part of score history. Murph's sports talk never grows old. North, Mac who I listened to in the day would grow old after a while. I'd continue to tune in but gradually less. But they're gods compared to today's nothing's Parkins possee.

I don't know what "radio skilled mocked" means, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Score guys would resent someone who parachuted in, displaced one of their own in Hood, and then left.

Hood is essentially doing Murph's show, complete with all the hacky sound effects that would be more at home in a much smaller market than Chicago, weekday evenings on AM1000.
