Personally, I'm happy for my Dad.

Make no mistake about it, he's in bad shape with his knees and hips. But he's been retired for 15 years or so. He's got a nice pension and his social security. And we help him to do stuff. We went to Disney World with him 2 years ago. It was tough for him to walk. But we got him around. Disney is good with making it easy for old people. We stayed at a resort. He had a scooter. It was fun. The beech was right on the resort. Best vacation I ever had. It was with my sisters, nieces and nephews.

So that's why I'm sad for Terry and his family. You should get more time after you retire. I'm glad my dad has had some good times after retirement.

All the best to Terry and his family during a most difficult time.

I'd say he was retired for 10+ years. He just collected a paycheck for most of those years.

I just found out recently that Terry was a WWF manager for the tag team "The Road Hogs" in the early 80's

this post right here sort of made me change my opinion on some of the responses.

Terry use to say this exact same thing for others on their deathbeds.

I guess I can see why people are posting the way they are w/ this news.

Thank you. I have been waiting for three goddamn pages for someone to use the "If Terry Boers were dying in my backyard, I'd close the blinds." or "If Terry Boers' funeral were in my backyard, I'd close the blinds." line.

I really believe that “any man’s death diminishes me” although that will no doubt be sorely tested when the Orange Fuck-nut that used to be *president bites it.

That said, Terry did spend a lot of time on air mocking, deriding, and belittling people who died so fuck him. It should say in his obit that he wasn’t much of a writer though he thought he was and his whole on-air schtick was a case of juvenile bottom-feeding observations.

I don't wish death on the man, but I share your judgment of his writing ability. Whenever he posts something to The Score's website Laurence, and sometimes Bernstein, will start singing its praises. I'll go check it out and find it to be coherent (which is more than you can say about his oral communication) but nothing special. He really must have been something in the 90's to warrant the continued reverence he enjoys.

He was an excellent reporter for years.

He did not possess the writing skills of a Condon or Lincicome. however.

Well by Score standards he's Hemingway.

I think that Terry's commitment to the Score provided them with a professional cache and respect that no one in the rest of the line up possessed.

A well known reporter leaving his field and going to a fledgling station with a new format for the market. All sports, All day.

Shaer was a goof.

North was North.

Jiggs, affectionately known as the dumbest man ever to graduate from Harvard.

Mac was the prodigal son who once wrote for some local paper only your parents read.

Terry had been well read for years. He had professional respect and he had spent Sunday afternoons with the sports medias biggest stars for a few years waxing poetic about sports on WGN.

No not really. I never liked him even during his Sun Times job. HFC was great and he gets half the credit but the star of the show was the team, not an individual. Post HFC, he was insufferable to listen to.

Nah.. he was still very good early BB. I preferred his chemistry with Mac but I’m not going to pretend that the early years of the new partnership weren’t good. I enjoyed him for the most part and energized and engaged terry was still good. Hard to keep that up for 20 plus years though and it shows on all of the long time hosts.

Yet there is that stupid pollack, Jay Zawawski, saying he goes through life thinking what would Terry say or do. It's just so stupid to say something like that. Cuz Jay knows he doesn't even mean it. Or maybe not. Some Pollacks are dumber than others.

(I'm half Polish, as you know, so I'm allowed.)
