Trying to come up with concepts that could possibly pump life into CHGO.

Still think an hour show where Mac or Pappy come on and openly mock the tepid Bears takes from the smarmy CHGO hosts would be fun, maybe call it the "contrarian hour", would be fun, cannot use guys like Thayer or Olin because, well you know why, too intimidating for dudes like Hoge.

They do some meatball takes, but a segment with fans giving meatball takes would bring back some of the old sports talk radio type interactions with the hosts, again this would breathe life into the tedious pods and make the swarmy guys like Carm have to defend the rather shallow Bears takes they skate by with day after day after day.

Could do a segment called "Terry's Peeps" or "I'm not sayin' I'm just sayin'" where they cover rumors and speculation about the team, again this would be incredibly uncomfortable and awkward for the oddly arrogant former local media types, but would again create differential content.

I will take my usual 25% fee, well I guess 25% times zero is zero, so let's just saddle up and move along.

Sports fandom is a hobby. It isn't important in the scheme of things. Those who get paid to comment on it should say the things on the air that they do off the air. What the hell are they afraid of? Success?

Has one commentator said Caleb is a bust? I guarantee some think he is. So what's the problem? Being wrong? Who cares? It's sports. 99% of it is a prediction business. Commentators absolutely should call out dopes and not be afraid to be a dope. It's OK to be wrong on sports. Sports itself is dopey.

We are grown men on the edge of our seat watching other grown men attempting to take an oblong object into the area with the pretty colors.

It’s amazing that a guy like Mike North knew this 30 years ago and very few since have employed that formula.

Let me help ya out lil' fella, simply enter "CHGO Chicago" into the mysterious google machine, enter exactly as I instructed with the quotation marks and a new world will open up to you and you will be able to contribute an informed opinion into the discussion.

Maybe you are using the Lil' Danny Bernstein method and pretending you do not know about something to separate yourself from those you feel are ill informed like he does by claiming never to have heard of Ric Flair despite attending college in North Carolina, in that case these is nothing anyone can do to help you.

whistler has a grasp on reality so tenuous that I'm surprised people don't get PMs about laying off the guy. He seems to believe NFL games that are on streaming television services are non-televised. The only thing he has in common with Dan Bernstein is being kind of annoying.

Which made Parkins, despite his many faults, the best host SCR had.

Yeah, as much as Parkins could be frustrating, he was mostly good and I have yet to tune into the Spiegel/Holmes show. Simply no interest.

I didn't always agree with his takes, but yeah, Parkins at least had takes.

It's why I first started listening to Chet when I was a teenager. Nothing rankled him more than a vanilla ass sportscaster. Sid Garcia and Howard Sudberry were frequent targets of his. Mostly for that reason. Who cares if someone gets offended? It's sports. They are supposed too from time to time.

Anyone that has ever played sports has had someone tell them that they aren't shit. It's actually one of the endearing qualities about sports to be honest. Prove em wrong and feel good about yourself later on because you did.

If Caleb were not a DEI jackpot he’d get a ton more flak. Same as if he played in almost any other market except Chicago, which is arguably (along with the Twin Cities) the most anachronistic and backwards city in the USA in terms of social issues.

I was thinking exactly this when watching Antioch's clip of the Bears last drive set to Creed. One of my fondest memories was a "who gives a shit" Christmas tournament game where I was getting annihilated by some lanky awkward guard. I got a putback rebound to win the game and all of a sudden life is good. One of the ugliest box scores you'll ever see, it's like 11AM on a Thursday, and I'm running around like Cairo Santos. From a 20,000 ft view it's ridiculous. But nevertheless....it sticks with you.

Yep. All of that comes with the territory. Talking shit and having people call you a bum while you're competing used to be fun. It was all a part of what comes with competing.

The great thing about sports was that no matter how good you thought you were, there was always somewhere better to humble you.

Talking shit in organized sport was after my time. Coach would sit your ass down. And for playing dirty. I'd say, "Coach, look at the guy." His face would be the Alonzo Mourning gif.

This should be a top ten post for 2025. Sports is entertainment, it should be fun.

The hosts on the Score are smug, condescending and are not fun. They are more concerned with dropping in their social/political views and pretending that they have the most inside/informed hosts, think the fans are all idiots and preach rather than talk.
