Some guy named Abe Kanan, and Mac doesn't have a week scheduled.

Pretty sure he was on one of the Sirius Howard stations on the weekends doing a sports show a few years back.

Has anyone been listening?

I heard a little bit of Abe Kannan. He was OK. I'm not a big fan of 3, 4, or 5 different people being part of a broadcast. Everyone has to chime in with a comment and/or try to be funny and it 1) takes forever for the person talking to get to the point because of all the side comments and 2) most of the comments made don't add much.

Shadoe Stevens is on this week. Rob Hart did what I'm guessing was supposed to be a funny breaking news bit where he read several stories in a somewhat old-timey voice, but dozens of people dying at an Egyptian soccer game doesn't lend itself well to comedy.

I like Rob Hart, but the WLUP 20/20 News bit he's doing is not good.

Liz Wilde is auditioning this week. She had Seka on this morning, who is almost as old as Shadoe Stevens.

I don't think any of the people auditioning are significant improvements over Maxwell. For the amount of talk they have on that station in the morning, he and Rob Hart were fine.

I don't know. He would often talk about butting heads with his boss, so maybe that wasn't a bit and they legitimately didn't get along.

Maxwell was a Randy Michaels flunky from their days in Cincinnati. He sucked and Cumulus had no loyalty to him, so they fired him. The same thing happened to Mike McConnell at WGN.

Yup. I'm surprised he stuck around as long as he did once Cumulus bought out The Loop.

One of the dudes that used to work on Mancow's TV "show" is a budding music promoter and we wanted some exposure so we agreed to do a show with him. Maybe shmooze with this guy and get on the Mancow show. Plus we figured we'd be able to network with the other bands.

The opening act was a band full of 11 year old kids (pretty good band) and the other two bands were very raw. The third band actually said "We're a brand new band and we don't have enough music to do a whole set" and were just jamming on shit and it was brutal, just making shit up. Like, fucking off, not trying to write or anything, just pointless noodling.

It was one of the worst shows I've ever been a part of...

Altogether I listened to about an hour of Mancow's show today mainly to see if it was anything different than he had done before. It's not.

Abe Kannan, who was the first to audition, is part of Mancow's show. That's a little weird.

I never thought I'd say this, but Mancow reminds of Bernstein in several ways. They're both disingenuous as hell. Mancow will mention a celebrity and then add how he's friends with them as a means of bolstering his point, which reminds me of Bernstein and his remarkably well-placed sources. There are also the SERIOUS. MOMENTS. and crocodile tears.

Mancow is the jivest motherfucker in the history of Chicago radio. Nothing sincere or genuine comes out of that ahole's mouth.

Mancow won. They're going to call him tomorrow to "offer" him the job live on the air.

Boo-urns.

I suppose it was inevitable. Here's a show I won't be listening to.

According to Feder, the Loop is going to fake-offer him the job, and he's going to fake-mull it over for a period of time.

I can't make this stuff up!

I figured they're doing something like that to create drama, otherwise there's no reason for them to promote "offering" him the job on the air.

Lame.

Just heard an update on the Loop about their morning show. Apparently, Mancow went "off the grid" after they offered him the job and they now have an ex-FBI person looking for him.

He should try 1995.

Are Loop listeners really interested in this kind of nonsense? Are they trying to bring in a different (younger) demographic? I would have thought that the typical Loop listener was at least in their 30s and not too keen on this sort of thing.

23rd? Off the top of my head I can only think of 10 or 11 other stations and there were 22 others ahead of him. Were Maxwell's ratings that low?

I didn't even know Mancow was still on the air.

I'm sure he was abducted by one of the unmarked black helicopters that have been stalking him since 1995.
