Yeah I wouldnt agree with the black caller thing. I think Murph would talk to anyone especially about baseball.

Lawrence's entire schtick, (well, not the creeping on women part), is a direct result of listening to and working for Murph.

Where is Drinky now?

And Lawrence once threatened Murph with bodily harm??

Ok, you made me laugh.

What does the fact that Drinky is not in radio have to do with Murph being hard to work for?

And the fact that Larry took some stuff from Murh...again what does that have to do with anything?

Abbatacola complained about Bernstein too. See a pattern there? The grass was always greener with others in his personal life as well.

And you brought up Lawrence. I highlighted a reason he is not the most credible source on the topic.

Yeah I see the pattern. No matter who is brought up as a critic of Murph you are going to say they are not credible.

You brought up people with credibility issues.

Murph had at least a dozen producers at the Score.

Is that all you have?

I dont have all the producers memorized and what they have said about Murph.

I have named 2 guys that both had issues with Murph and it has always been talked about around here that Murph was hard to deal with.

Who else do you have RP?

Searching through some posts about Murph on here and found these two gems from our buddy Hawaii. Guess he has not always been a Murph ass kisser

HawaiiYou wrote:
I was 18-19 when Murph started on WLS and he had a gig at the local mall. So I was a fan of his show and drove out in a bad sleet storm to go meet him and see his show from the mall since he was broadcasting from there.

Anyway, I get there and Murph already has a pissed off attitude. There are all these old people around him and he's talking to them so I go up there and say Hi Murph, I'm a fan of your show, it's nice meeting you. The guy turns out to be a REAL TOOL and just gives me a stare and ignores me and talks with his 60something buddies.

Naturally I was pissed. I spent all that time driving in sleet storm and gas money to meet this guy and he turned out to be a total jerkoff.

HawaiiYou wrote:
I got a 2nd story that involves an argument between murph and my brother back in around 94. Murph was doing his 69 cubs love bit and how that was the greatest cubs team ever in the last 25 years. My bro called and was telling murph that the 84 cubs were also a great team and were in the hearts of many Chicagoans since they really brought the cubs back from the dead in the media's and fan's eyes. Of course, you can't say anything that can offend murph's 69 cubs right? Murph goes on about how the 84 cubs were no where close to the 69 cubs, that how this and that and those were weak players or not as appealing personalities blah blah blah. Anyway, my bro got pissed at him and said at least the 84 cubs WON SOMETHING! Of course murph cuts him off the air before it gets on the radiowaves.

Shit, just typing that 2nd story pissed me off, what a f'n wanker murph's always been.

First hand experience.

Not second and third hand stories from former MLB prospects.

Did Murph forget to send you a “ Caller of the Show” certificate?

What makes your first hand experience any different than Drinky and Larry?

Hearing Drinky and Larry talk themselves about working with Murph is not 2nd and 3rd hand stories.

So out of all the other producers of the show you dont have anyone else that agrees with your stance, and I am the one that is off?

Uh...IT WAS MY EXPERIENCE

Hearing Drinky and Larry talk themselves about working with Murph is not 2nd and 3rd hand stories.

Repeating a "story" you heard from someone else is by definition "second hand." Repeating a story from a non credible source you know is prone to telling fables is something far less than that.

So out of all the other producers of the show you dont have anyone else that agrees with your stance, and I am the one that is off?

Your premise was that "many" producers who worked for Murph felt picked on. So far you have come up with 1 possible source for that who is credible.

Are you sure you never met Murph?

Did you often have such strong personal anger toward people you have had zero discernible interaction with?

 strong personal anger?

I called him a bitch. He came off as a bitch many many times over the years.

I dont understand why this bothers you so much. But whatever.

You want to take shots at Larry and Drinkys credibility...what credibility do you have?

What have you done in radio that puts you above Larry and Drinky? Sure Larry is a creep at times that loves to talk about his own baseball past a lot. But that seems to be way more than you have done. Drinky while not in the game any longer was a big part of the Score for a lot longer than you.

So lets hear it, what have you done?

Murph doesn't do endless monolouges with no point. And Murph isn't arogant on the air.

The argument is who's a prick? Don't you think between Murph, Terry, Mac they were all pricks. Especially competitively to each other.

Bernstein backed up a story when he chimed in about a Murph blowup at a remote. It doesn't seem Murph dealt with remotes well. The story where he went for food a block away in Orland Park and got lost was gold. He came back pissing at the producer blaming him.

Classic radio this past week for sure. Wonder if Murph will
respond on his show. If he does it's usually quick and squeezed in some other discussion. Apparently the black leather pants he says never existed. If Murph did a Len kaspar now that would be interesting.

Murph isn’t a people person. He may have been before the score but definaltley no more.

Like I said who knows the office politics there that made him the way he is.

You would think since Murph and Terry both got cancer working in the same building it would mellow both out to the other.

Murph obviously has lots of enemies but I like his show and always have. As for Bernstein, the day that condescending ass gets fired will be long overdue.

Murph and Boers had a running gag where if something risqué was said, Murph would say “I hope Boers isn’t listening” and Boers would do the same (“I hope Murph’s not listening”). I can’t remember...was that prior to the feud or a result of it?

They called the place "the bunker on Belmont" but bunkers are supposed to protect you from radioactivity. Between XRT and the Score at least five longtime employees have gotten cancer and one died.

wow , just listening to today's show.

Murph going off on 2 callers back to back. First time i've heard murph get this angry at callers in a very long time.

Go to the 30 min mark

http://www.espn.com/espnradio/chicago/play?id=24158671

added - man murph is really angry today! talking about 1985 and if you don't know the players he screams GOOGLE AND LOOK THEM UP!

HE JUST SAID 'I want slippery balls in my hands' referencing the bears practicing in the rain. Cueing it up for Terry I guess.

That made me think to the past. Murph didn't like technical glitches. He'd holler to the producer "GO TO COMMERCIAL"repeatedly. Then after the break he'd be breathing heavy after balling out the staff and he'd be quite frazzled. That happened a lot I remember.

Thanks for clarification. No idea who Leslie Witt is/was. Also, that record store owner from Oak Park, passed away this week from cancer. Maybe it has something
to do with records and vinyl?

Switched over to them this morning and immediately heard some bad Fred takes.

Talking about Baez for MVP: "people say he has a low OBP...what does that have to do with most valuable?"
Talking about Sandberg's defense: "people complained that he never dove, but that's because he was always there to make the play." That is one of the biggest myths surrounding Sandberg. I don't care how good a defender is, there are ALWAYS balls you should dive for.

At least I got one laugh out of Murph, when he spoke about the Sandberg 2-homer game. "I almost got my hands on both of his balls."

You mean like The Flintstones? I loved the Flintstones right up to when they added Kazoo the martian to the cast. It "Jumped the Shark" for me. When did Fred and Murph Jump the Shark?

I never disliked them together and kinda loved that Murph was a meatball fan at a time MANY at the Score and in sports radio were trying to be above that. North and Maxfield sucked together.

I think Jesse Rogers got shit hammered for critiquing Joe Madden too hard. Keeping in mind he coauthored a book with Joe..

Semmed like a setup murph doing groveling buddy jessee a favor. All of a sudden the conversation turns to great managers talking about Riggs and shidt. One of them says and Joe, then jessee blubbers you know how I feel about joe.Murph whose been hard on Joe delivers the blockbuster that Joe's the best Cubs manager of all time he's seen. Not what he said when Joe almost lost the series and after the many Joe screwups.

Jessee must have been taken to the woodshed for being too hard on Joe's craziness on murphs show. Murph took the sword for jessee.what a pal.
