Post subject: | Howard Stern's old Channel 9 shows |
In the early 90's Stern did a Saturday night show on New York cable station channel 9. I think it's still a superstation on the east coast. I remember as a kid that station was available on basic cable here in Chicago in the late 80's. They used to broadcast a handful of Mets games and also a New York news cast. Many of you might remember that. It's basically WGN 9 of the east. It went away here on basic cable for some reason. Anyway I used to hear Stern talk about how he doesn't have the rights to those shows and he's been trying to get them. He used to talk about how funny those shows were. So I did a search on Youtube.com. Just type "Howard Stern's channel 9 shows". They have about 25 clips of random shows. Oh my god some of the funniest sketch comedy and interviews I've ever seen. I know he's had the E show that we've all seen. But that's just the taping of his radio show. This show was seperate from his radio show and better. The stuff he did on that New York channel 9 show was amazingly dirty comedy. Race, sex, whatever. I beleive channel 9 was over the air TV in New York. The stuff he did would not be allowed in this "media restricted climate" on non premium cable let alone 'over the air TV'. I'm shocked he got away with it in the early 90's. Anyway for you Stern fans check it out on Youtube.com Funny stuff. |

Ok. Maybe now. But you guys don't remember it was a Super Station. WOR 9 I beleive. Like I said, it was available here in Chicago in the late 80's on basic cable. They had the 9 o'clock news (8pm our time). About 40 New York Mets games. It was a Superstation like TBS and WGN. Maybe not now. Some of you guys have to recall that. Whatever. I'm just trying to introduce you to the old Stern shows. I never had seen them. I didn't find out about Stern until the mid 90's. I just recall him talking about this old show. I found them on Youtube. |

I remember WWOR. They used to air Tic-Tac-Dough, one of my favorite game shows growing up. |

Some of it's really great, even though the Cheech and Chong Christmas one sucked. Did you catch any of the 1st Amendment arguments Howard has some with some old lady, classic stuff. |

Yes I remember having WOR on my old cable; I think it was called TCI. I thought the Howard Stern stuff on it was better than the stuff that was on E. |

I remember one show right after Pee Wee Herman got caught jerking it down in that XXX theatre in Sarasota, Fl. Stern had a show called Pee Wee's perverted playhouse. The funniest thing I ever saw. Some of the other stuff like the Wackpack. Damn, That stuff was unreal. Used to catch it on WOR. |

Yeah Morton Downey Jr!!! Hell yeah, that show ruled!!! It was WOR I remember when the mets played the braves for like 15-20 innings or something like that on the 4th of July I think in '86. The game lasted until 0430am after numerous rain delays Fun times! |
