Ratings time again. Cubs baseball is carrying the Score while ESPN is down. WLS & White Sox baseball are down as well.

If they are able to do so, it would be inneresting to know what the ratings for B&B would be without the Cubs.

Nice to see Roe Conn is not in the Top 10.

Just look back to last years ratings.

The Score with the Cubs is beating WGN without the Cubs by half a point. Put the Cubs back on GN and they're probably three points up on the Score. I never liked this move from a Chicago radio landscape standpoint.

Hoping 1000 and WFMT can join forces with the Kap & Carl Grapentine Show. Hey pal, I got some Monday morning Mozart for ya, sweetcheeks!

Think he's using this OJ show to relive his own relevance?

Kap might have "capped" himself by moving off of WGN.

Cubs radio didn't come cheap. They're what's driving improved ratings at WSCR. Management in the next contract negotiations probably goes here's my (lower) number.

Where else these guys gonna go? They want to be at 670 where the Cubs can mask their awful shows.

At least with Bernstein though they don't have anyone better and if Boers is really retiring they need to have some sort of continuity.

Just imagine what 670 The Score would be without both Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein.

They don't have anyone equal who can wave pom poms for the Cubs?

Maybe the Cubs ratings are so good because they often have B&B as a lead-in?

That would be negated by the Goff & Speigel lead in during day games.

Goff & Speigal are also crushing their competition at the moment, so you might be on to something here.

Seriously...?

Cubs play day baseball on weekdays as a regular occurrence, Sox do not.

Cubs have a direct effect on b&b's ratings, the Sox did not.

I never understood the 780 love. How could anyone listen to that station for more than 30 minutes? You get the traffic, weather, and a brief (very brief) news hit. Rinse, repeat.

780 when driving down to games in the city...traffic and weather on the 8's. That's the only time I turn it on...unless they've got a Bear game on and I happen to be in the car.

B&B wasn't rated on any Sox games during the period.

Are you sure you understand how this ratings thing works?

I can read and comprehend at an average level. my point was 2015 and prior when the afternoon show would insuiate their ratings were low because of the white sox the general consensus of these boards was it was a lame excuse.

And the general consensus was correct for a few reasons.

There was only a few Sox day games. And the Sox have far less fans.

The Cubs have many more day games, with a much larger fan base. Not to mention, after a few bad books, the B&B ratings went up once the Cubs showed up.

B and B not only lost their time slot to their competition but lost listeners in comparison to their drive time/midday co workers for the better part of a decade.

Maybe B and B got better at their jobs or listener tastes changed. I wouldn't want to be the one tasked with making that argument but it is possible that is the reason for increased ratings.

I know it's rather far afield from B&B quibbling, but we should acknowledge how remarkable it is that NPR has a top ten show in morning drive. You don't have to go back very far in history to reach a time when public radio was only a punchline, and now here's Morning Edition beating a sports talker and an adult contemporary in the #3 market. All NPR had to do was sell its soul.
