With rumors of Greeny leaving Mike and Mike, does anybody foresee WMVP changing over to a local morning show to compete with M&H? I can see why Mike and Mike would have some appeal, depending on the listener, but they're a brand name now. Does anybody really want Mike Golic Jr. and Marcellus Nas in the morning drive in Chicago?

Network is going to insist on clearing Chicago, a rare ESPN O&O, for a national morning show. They're already making concessions by letting 1000 go as local as they do in middays and afternoons.

There's zero chance this happens. There already have planned layoffs happening of on-air personnel throughout the entire brand. There's zero chance they add more salary for a show that will ultimately won't compete. They're fine with their vanilla morning show and they will stick with it.

Sweet Home Chicago Mornings, with your hosts David Kaplan and Jim Belushi.

I like the idea

Those layoffs are primarily driven by the changes in the cable landscape (cord cutting and increasing rights fees). While radio has its own issues, I'm pretty sure WMVP is a profitable venture as it has to have fairly low expenses

Yes, but the layoffs will happen across radio and television as MANY of their personnel have duties on both sides. I see ESPN Radio going even less local. Carmen & Jurko probably won't be around much longer, and they will fill their slot with even more national programming to lower costs further.

W&S will eventually be the only local show on the station.

When WMVP cuts the local shows, that is when you will see the 3rd sports station pop up. You have to think WSCR and 3rd local talker will be going after a different market than WMVP with national shows
