Babbling on tonight and I caught this one " Me and my Dad are totally different, he is quiet and nice and I am loud and mean". Never have I heard a guy try to convince people what a bad-ass he is. I just dont get it. |

I am tired of the pulse. He comes to work with a short show and doesn't have any material. I like the idea of the pulse once a week, but every day and for a whole show is just too much. I almost feel asleep twice listening to him in the car this past week. |

ESPN Radio just launched "The Pulse" a few weeks ago. Weeknights 7p-10p with Doug Gottlieb on ESPN Radio. I bet you it's not a bad show... has to be better than a Larry Homers show. |

It's always amusing to me to hear the amount of energy he expends trying to promote this segment, too. Umm, Larry, no matter how hard you try, you're not fooling anyone into thinking you're doing anything other than having open phone lines for an hour. And we're still waiting for those 4 breaking stories, by the way!! |

Right. In radio, they get stuck on titles. Now certain segments are fine. "Who You Crappin" started every shows bash segment. They all call it something different. But yeah. The way Larry gushes over "the pulse". Like it's some new mysterious and creative invention is laughable. Like you said, Larry might as well say "call me up and say stuff". Or just say the typical "open phone lines". He leads off with his thoughts anyway. Just like every other host does. And people call and discuss it. Just like every other host. It's all the same crap. Let's not act special Larry. |

No idea why he needs to name a segment for people calling in and talking about whatever topics they want to. I prefer that to Holmes coming up with a topic BTW, just naming the segment like it's something new. |

Maybe he should name his show HELLO LARRY! & it he can follow in McLean Stevensons footsteps. (if you're saying "huh?" then look it up) But back to Larry: He tells us he's Cool. He tells us he's a Ladies Man. He tells us he's Loud & Mean. Larry: if you have to tell us, then you are none of the above. |

I remember him saying a few weeks back that if he were taller he'd be in Major League Baseball. Swear to God. He said it like he was dead serious. Yeah Larry. Your height prevented that one. Because there are no 5'8 guys ever to make MLB. There have been a shit load you idiot. Even more pro ball players if you consider all the guys in the Minor Leagues which you never made Larry. The World Series MVP was Ecstein last year. Man, does Larry have an unbeleivable opinion of himself. |

Quote: I believe he did try out for the Cubs in his days as DePaul catcher.
I dont think he was a catcher, I know Hood was a catcher in High School and he use to talk about that. Holmes is a total non factor in sports radio, if he didnt praise himself, who would? |

Ok. He tried out or he was a decent high school player. But to say you would have made the bigs if only you were taller is what I questioned. MLB doesn't discriminate. If you can hit you can hit no matter your size. If he was really a couple inches shy, which he claims, of making the bigs then at the very least he should have played college ball or minor league ball. |

...And if I only had a few more inches then I'd be stealing roles from Ron Jeremy the Hedgehog. |

As a catcher, you could make the argument that being shorter is an advantage. Also, hitting is an afterthought for most catchers even at the highest levels of the game. I do believe Larry played baseball at De Paul. It is a club level team. I remember playing summer league games with guys from De Paul and Loyola when I was in high school. Most of them would be considered below average on a high school team. I would not brag about playing at either school. |

A few nuggets from the sturday AM show. Mr Loud and Mean said this morning, "when baseball season starts, I get all tingly"...........................What? He also went off on some fan out of the blue, which I guess is his attempt to be mean, but the bad part is that he totally misunderstood the callers point. Someone made a coment about Mark Buerhle and Olive Garden, which Larry stated " I can tell you for a fact that Mark hates Olive Garden. Zach jumped right in and said " No, I know that he does like olive garden, this went on for about two minutes. Is it me or does this sound like two guys trying to sound like they are tight with every professional athlete in town? Now, I didnt like Baum and Olken and I am at least entertained by these two babbling on like to boobs trying to prove who is cooler. I guess it can be called "fun bad". |

In that picture he is dangerously close to looking like the only black guy I've ever seen dancing with a white man overbite. |

I had to turn the radio after onlyi a few minutes. It's 6am on a Saturday Morning and he is yelling. Pipe down Larry and lower it down a notch. Larry made a funny when he was yelling about people who "cuddle" the young Bulls players. Excuse me Larry, but it is "Coddle". He said it throughout the morning. I have disliked Larry for the longest time. Origins of my disdain: Happened one night when he was demeaning a caller and said, "I have an AIR award (Achievement in Radio) what do you have?" They used to give AIR awards to every guy in radio. They give them out like candy i might have won one. |

Larry is a guy who isn't very smart but trys to portray him self as such. He yells. He states the obvious. He trys too hard and it shows. He minimizes the important issues and blows up the unimportant issues. Part of this comes from him trying to stir shit up (smart people don't fall for it). Part of it comes from the fact that he is very dumb. |

I'm sick of Larry. Ever since he started doing the Bears beat, he had to work them in to every show or conversation. Showing that tonight, on opening day, when I tuned for 5 minutes and get to hear what he thought of the Convention. Who the hell gives a shit about the Bears convention? |

I wouldn't call him dumb. He is not very good as a sports radio host and he has his own show. CBS management seem to be the "dumb" ones. |
