Did anyone catch this on Saturday morning 3/31? Lou Canellis and Rick Telander and some other yahoos have a new show on AM1000. Think it used to be on WLS. They talk about sports (i.e. Lance Briggs), investing, and home improvement.

It's called the Sports Exchange and good lord, it sucks. I'm pissed. Now even less airtime opps. for the existing ESPN radio crew.

I like sports. I like making money. I even like houses. I just don't like Lou Canellis and Rick Telander on my radio. Especially when they're trying to do a Martha-Stewart-For-Guys show.

PLEASE TELL ME THIS WAS AN EARLY APRIL FOOL'S DAY GAG. PLEASE!

Saturday morning is must-miss sports radio for me. It's a wasteland already. Who cares who else they try to stick in there (but in this case, I agree that it's especially bad).

Mr. Fix-it gets my listen on WGN on Saturday mornings (I know you're happy for me).

Uh Oh! Somebody alert J. Hood! I'm sure he's thrilled about being on the same station with his guy again.

"Its the HUGE Show! Hey Sweet Lou, how's it goin?"

I tried listening to that show and it was just plain bad. THem talking about sports is bad enough, tossing in talk of investing and real estate...puh-leasee.

Note to AM1000: More JHood. I am tired of Playa wannabe Cannelis on the radio. Let him go host a show on a Gold Coast corner!

Now that I'm actually hearing it firsthand for myself, I conclude this is sports radio's re-enactment of an audio abortion.

I just tuned in too. Telander sounds just as bad as he did on the Score. He still can't complete a thought and talks like he has a mouthful of marbles.
Lou just sucks.

I just heard about 15 minutes of it and this WILL be on my car radio anytime I'm out and about on Saturday morning.

It's the most bizarre format with the strangest people. They went from Ben Wallace to real estate infomercial critiques in about 2 minutes.

It's God-awful, bizarre, disjointed, can't-miss train wreck radio for me.

Yeah. It is weird isn't it? Lou grates on me. He just seems like ass hole. These questions are stupid. They are asking investment questions that you know these people know the answers too. They just want to talk on the radio.

Like your gonna listen to some guys on the radio tell you what to do with your money.

Then a women calls up with questions on track lighting. Weird radio.

We've got to come up with some questions that tie sports and hardware / home improvement / 'around the yard' together at the same time.

Rick, what type of chemicals did the Dartmouth swim team have in their pool, and would you recommend it for home swimming pools?

I listened for two minutes...to sum it up in a quick phrase:

Mike North Morning Show - Weekend Edition

Nice. I've been anticipating an anti-climatic return of Gordon Lightpants.

Except for the fact that WSCR pays North and his sidekicks for their time on the radio.

Here's my question for next week -

Hey guys. I got a question dat's gonna spray to all fields so I'm gonna need all youse guys input. I'm whittling a 58 foot statue of DA COATCH outta solid oak for my front yard. So, for da hardware guy dere, what is the proper way to seal it. I don't want DA COATCH's hip to warp in any way and make his already prominently featured bum hip look so outta whack as to make da whole 58 foot statue look ridiculous.

For da real estate guy, are there any zoning issues I need to worry about? I wanna put dis right on da property line so as to leave room for my double tribute to Sayers and Sweetness later.

For Telander, should my statue be early, curly haired Ditka or widow's peak Ditka?

And for Lou, can you check with Janet Davies and tell me some great under-the-radar shoe shops here in da city?

Thanks. I'll hang up and listen for my multiple answers.

See if you can do it without laughing. All serious like. Do it in a Chicago accent.

Don't worry Beardown, Gomer can easily do a Chicago accent. He can sing, dance, act and he also had a thing for Ernest T. as well.

Justin L. Craig: your bus has arrived. Please go back to Bristol, you're killing one of my favorite radio stations.

Lou, you are a dope. He opened the show last week by asking the real estate guy what listeners should do if they have $10K to invest in real estate. $10K? In Chicago, you *might* be able to buy a roof or a cheap-ass garage addition.

I NEVER thought I'd long for another chance to hear the Doug Kincaid show or the CJ Silas me-fest. Worst ever. At least until Justin Craig's next crap decision.

This show is the platypus of radio.

Did anybody hear if MJH read my email on this show during Critics today? I gave them a sarcastic thumbs up.

Something like it's the greatest combination of financial advice, real estate tips, handyman tricks, and uninformed sports opinions this side of my father-in-law.

Caught a few minutes this morning.

Apparently, Deng has grown 1-1/2 inches since joining the Bulls, real estate sellers are literally knocking the doors down to reach investors with money (which I thought would be an excellent opportunity for Mike the Builder to tell us the best way to replace a door but they didn't go there), and today is a great day to check your house for water penetration.

That was about 4 minutes.

I love this show.

Actually, I know he's the dude paying for it (I think), but I could do without the real estate stuff.

But, a show about home improvement and sports on Saturday morning is just about the right speed for me. But, I'm kind of a home improvement freak.

I just love the crazy transitions from topic to topic.

i don't mind the real estate stuff as long as Lou keeps the show moving. quick and dirty...quick and dirty...
i'm kinda sick of being a home improvement freak. a plaster house built in 1947 will do that to you.

which is why i bought a townhome. :)

Maybe they should have tried to lure another WGN'er over to 1000. They could have done "Lou & Lou" on Saturday mornings and made it more interesting (and dump Captain Infomercial altogether)....
