Wonder why Bernstein and Goff dont use Matt Bowen as their NFL GO TO KNOWLEDGE MAN anymore. Did someone finally realize Bowen generally says a lot of words without actually saying anything at all? Did Bernstein grow tired of Bowen's NFL PLAYER MENTALITY of SUCK IT UP AND PLAY?

They certainly got a guy to lob softball questions at in Matt Miller. Sad.

Can't afford him with that Cubs contract. Just get another guy named Matt to babble about football and no one will notice.

EDIT: oh it's because he went to ESPN

Speaking of losing guests to ESPN, remember when they had Lester Munson as their sports-law guy, then lost him and replaced him with some Lionel Hutz? Who was that?

EDIT: was it Darvin Ham?

He always seemed like a buffoon going back to his appearances on the Sportswriters on TV.

i chuckled today when B&G asked matt miller who the next hot coach would be.... his answer.... Dave "Tahwb"... answered with no specifics as to why he's a good candidate and complete ignorance to the fact bears fans are plenty familiar with Toub.... B&G completely glossed over this oversight and asked the next question instead of making the obvious comment that bears fans know Toub so as to not embarrass their "Expert"

bowen was attrocious.... bernstein would lob jargon laden platitudes towards bowen... he would agree and then ramble on for 5 minutes.. it was terrible radio.

the bias was never stronger when Bowen would exude a mentality or tell a story FROM EXPERIENCE that had it been some random caller from the 815, they would have slammed him for being a meatball or someone that doesnt -

*sigh*

appreciate or at the very least show a willingness to understand the science behind the exposure of a decades-long cover up that has led to the injustice for dozens or even hundreds of former players that now deal with CTE.

I'm pretty sure I was listening some years ago when Eldon Ham, Esquire just called in as a regular caller on some issue and gave his qualifications on air like many do. I believe Bernstein, instead of patronizing him like he normally would, actually engaged with the guy, and poof - a show contributor was born.

I'm pretty sure that's how Bowen got in with Danny B as well.

Maybe Bernstein brought Cameron Hughes wine to one Bowen's Keystone Light parties?

Bowen told him that if he brought that shit on the property, he’d be kicked off. Probably what did him in on B&B.

Believe it was Eldon Ham. True to his name, he had a tendency to ham it up on his radio bits. It was lawer sports talk, so I tended to understand the need to lighten it up a little.

It appears I confused Eldon Ham with a bench player for the Detroit Pistons. Pobody's nerfect.

About as pointless as worrying about spelling. Next!

I remember Bowen was somewhat sympathetic to the Penn State scandal and thought Paterno was treated unfairly. I remember Bernstein was pretty quiet when Bowen was giving his opinion on the matter because Dan still respected him as an "Xs and Os guy" at the time.

I liked Bowen. I remember first time hearing him and thinking it was Doug talking about The time he had a concussion during a game. Over time it was easier to distinguish between the two.

Bowen's low talking combined with his very little insight made him instant ptfb for me.
