Patrick Mooney, who covered the Cubs for the network, was laid off in the company’s “restructuring process.” And Tracey Myers resigned voluntarily as Blackhawks writer to join NHL.com. Among a dozen layoffs last week was White Sox beat writer Dan Hayes. By one count, at least 25 full-time employees have left through layoffs and attrition in the past year, with none replaced. An NBC Sports Chicago spokesman confirmed the departures of Mooney and Myers but declined to comment. |

Dan Hayes blocked me on twitter for not reason, so he can go fuck himself. Tracy really had nothing of interest to say when she would be a guest on air, so no big loss. |

I always thought Mooney worked for the Cubs as a Vineline guy or something. It's a sad state of affairs in the print and broadcast business. Only the very young survive because they make the least amount of money. |

Care to elaborate of the firing? My manager thought I was doing a bad job and they let me go. It was just she and I in our little sub-department. I was only there for about six weeks. My first week there the person who had previously held that position said my manager was useless and everything she knew about the job she learned not from her but from the person who had it before she did. On several occasions, including a company party, I heard people from other departments making fun of my manager who was apparently regarded as kind of a joke. There was apparently a lot of turnover in that position both before and after I was there. |
