WGN AM 720 is dropping its Sunday afternoon sports talk show and shifting it to the Tribune Broadcasting news/talk station’s live-streaming and podcast platform. “The Beat,” previously heard from 3 to 6 p.m. Sundays, will morph into “Sports Central” from 1 to 2 p.m. weekdays on WGN Plus, featuring Adam Hoge, Jarrett Payton, Dave Eanet, Mark Carman, Kevin Powell, Sam Panayotovich and others. New to WGN’s lineup will be “The Karen Conti Show,” hosted by the Chicago attorney from 7 to 9 p.m. Sundays, starting this weekend. Conti’s show will focus on the law as it relates to topical news and expand into discussions on her love for travel and all things Chicago. “Now more than ever, Karen provides a critical voice for women in business and entertainment,” said Todd Manley, station manager and vice president of content and programming at WGN. Brian Noonan’s show will expand to four hours and air from 3 to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Tough demotion for our own Adam Hog.

I assume they're still keeping "The beat" on Saturdays. I catch some of that while driving. Harry Tinoweitz and Mark Carmen do that show.

I swear to God, I turn on some of these other WGN 720 weekend shows just to check out what they've got going and wonder who the hell listens to this shit?

growing up I was desperate for any sports talk. WGN committed as many hours as any, but the Sox were never ever discussed.

Adam Hoge deserves nothing but unhappiness.

I wouldn't have thought there would be a clamoring to hear Karen Conti talk about "her love of travel and all things Chicago" but I don't know how Spice Adams keeps getting work, either.

Isn't a love of travel and all things Chicago a bit of a contradiction?

Her argument was that 6 were clear cut murders. But the 7th was in question and thus he shouldn't get the death penalty.

Well his Great American Baking Show had two episodes air before the #metoo got it cancelled... that doesn't help his hosting resume.

Mark Carmen is a tough listen no matter who he is with. Supremely annoying human being.

Doesn't this mostly have to do with not trying to go up against baseball all summer, where games and post game routinely spills well into the 4pm hour?

Life was simpler when The Sportswriters would come on at 4 or 5pm Sunday and Floyd Brown hosted the show after that.

WGN has become even more boring if that is possible. Most of their shows sound like those half hour paid advertisements you see on Sunday morning television

Should never of cancelled the Noon Show.

I kid but agree that the station which was never high in my rotation outside of sports broadcasts has dipped even further in my commercial break button pushing.
