Was told this a while back that scoreboard updates will be trimmed on AM 670 in the near future. Park Park has mentioned on the afternoon show how useless updates are. WMVP got rid of their Sportcenter updates a year or so ago. A fly on the wall told me that next week, scoreboards will only be heard on M&H and on WSCR's most intelligent mid-day show. A bummer for those who are heard on afternoon and evening updates, on air time has been significantly reduced. Great news for those who don't care for them. Might this mean more Action updates from the Southpoint in Vegas? Time will tell. |

I thought the purpose of updates was to create more places to put paid reads and sponsorships? Why would they get rid of ad space? |

My guess is, they'll add more to the show clock and breaks. Maybe the wonderful PPM's are showing that when the score goes to their updates at the top and bottom people swhich to WMVP? Then again, the Score is the #1 sports in Chicago, PERIOD (In my best Big Voice guy). |

The most pointless ones are every 30mins during Les' overnight show. It's not like anything changes or has any risk of changing, although I can point out that the weather report is technically nice as no matter when you join in listening via the transient nature of the overnight shift you'll get an idea of what kind of weather to expect tomorrow. But if you listen for a 2+ hour clip it gets kinda tedious hearing the same read over and over again. Save that repetition for the commercials! That said, you don't immediately think about the loss of work for the update guys/gals but don't Mac and parking usually use a show producer who's there anyways? Do you get paid more for doing updates while you're there producing, or are updates important enough to where they're an exclusive task when you're in writing/reading them? |

Rosenbloom and Esposito were confused today because there were no updates. Rosenbloom had some bit going about how one of the postal workers who listens was upset because he could tell if he was ahead/behind on his route based on when the updates kicked in. So Esposito gave a mini-update anyway. |

Whatever it takes for them to relieve the update boat anchor of her post. |

It must be a rarity for them to get their own mail if the guy is that dumb. |

I can relate, I know what times each show comes on, they often say "So-and-so will be on in hour number three" etc, so I can tell you about what time it is with out digging my phone out. But, of course, I'm just a simple man working with the soil, not some high-level repo auction manager, burgeoning rap star or top-flight light bulb salesman who is glued to his smart phone all day while cruising in and out of meetings and speeding out in my hot hatch. I can imagine a mail carrier wanting to get to the corner by the first break of the hour, or some such goal, but they will adjust. Just know he always goes to starboard in the bottom half of the hour. |

murph use to be a bit stickler on scoreboard updates being started and finished on time when he was at the score. |

I don't imagine many of the Wake and Bake Club members care what time it is, or what the scores were for that matter... |

Hit and Run provided, at least what I think will be how the post scoreboard updates will be handled. The Score Sounder followed by a sponsor read at the top of the hour. Bottom of the hour will be either in a break or continue the conversation. Heard after the 10:30 break, Joe gave today's pitching matchup followed by a read for NU football. Again, for those who don't care this means nothing. For others, like the WB club postmen, this is earth shattering news. I would like to know how this effects part time talent. Will Joe O be the only update man for mornings and mid-days? For Grote, is the Bears beat and his BBM responsibility it? Looks like it's the Juile and Maggie show only for JDC, but for how long? David reduced to Cubs post game home interviews and his fill-in-hosting duties? |

The Score Sounder followed by a sponsor read at the top of the hour. This how it has always been. And it's called a legal ID at the top pf the hour. Bottom of the hour will be either in a break or continue the conversation. Again, if there is a read, this will simply replace the (Fill in the blank) Score update studio sponsor. Heard after the 10:30 break, Joe gave today's pitching matchup followed by a read for NU football. There are now three more minutes in most hours to sell as commercial time. Again, for those who don't care this means nothing. For others, like the WB club postmen, this is earth shattering news. This should have been done at least three years ago. It's earth shattering that Mitch chose not to. I would like to know how this effects part time talent. There will be less of it. Will Joe O be the only update man for mornings and mid-days? Stay tuned. For Grote, is the Bears beat and his BBM responsibility it? Stay tuned again. Looks like it's the Juile and Maggie show only for JDC, but for how long? Do you really care? David reduced to Cubs post game home interviews and his fill-in-hosting duties? Maybe the least affected guy in all of this. Or the most... |

Les records the first update he doesn't make a massive blunder than replays it all night. |

What percentage of the listeners relies on updates for scores? I have always thought it was useless to read scores from the previous day. Maybe injury reports or breaking updates but that is about it. |

Two updates an hour are too many? I say they're not enough. I need Scores on the 4s. |

Instead of updates we now have common knowledge "things-that-happen-to-athletes" updates from Derrick Rose's knee doctor (and how did a shit job on a friend of mine's knee). If that's the case, bring back scoreboard updates. |
