Dan Roan, giving you sports news since the 80s.

What do u think of him?

Have u met him in person? And if so, is he different in person than what he portrays on the air?

Did he tell u any funny stories about Rob Goldstein?

I like him.

He’s had a great run.

He was the man in the 80s on the super station.

I hate that wgn stopped the local news broadcasts outside of Chicago. Loved watching wgn 9 o’clock news from anywhere in the world.

Always enjoyed his work, gonna be sad to see him go, but the WGN sports chair will be in great hands when he leaves with Pat Tomasulo ready to take over the head sports guy...

He and I rolled through everyone in beanbags one day. He's my daugther's like....3rd cousin or something. Nice guy. Not nearly as boring in real life.

He, SHARK, and I got into it with some bikers at Chaser's in Shiller Park. He can really get out of a headlock.

SHARK tried to play peacemaker, but he was the one who started it. "Guys, I hate to interrupt, but the 1988 hit "Dude (Looks Like a Lady) is from the Permanant Vacation album... "

30+ years and has never said anything useful. Much closer to an old time weekend announcer like Howard Sudberry.

I liked Rich King better.

Tomasulo is an idiot. He's a comedian playing a morning zoo role, like Ana Belaval, Jeff Hoover, and Mike Toomey.

I loved Rich King. But I think both guys are very similar. No nonsense, blue-collar, non-analytical style. Both fit the WGN style.
Although Rich seemed like he'd be the nicer, funnier guy in person.

Rare to find a news network that have 2 guys for so long, over 30 years each.

It's like a baseball team having the same starting catcher and backup catcher for 15 years.

I agree. I loved the superstation. Always looked forward to getting Chicago News on WGN when I was out of state. Fuck, I watched the postgame coverage on WGN when the Sox won the World Series.

It's not a superstation anymore. It's just another cable channel that happens to be owned by 'GN.

Do they even show Cubs games anymore?

No they don't show Cubs anymore if you're out of state.

Is Roan retiring or something?

Rosenthal went down on Allison Payne during a commercial break one night and died when Allison came. Crushed his skull, poor bastard.

Years ago, I saw Dan at a bar at ISU during homecoming. He dropped to the floor and did the gator. Seemed like a good guy.

Like GD said, perfect WGN employee.
