I expect the interview to be a complete Hahn job.

Hahn was on with Kap earlier. Said there is no organizational philosophy against opt outs. Also said we don't get a participation trophy. We didn't finish the deal.

Was it Bruce that said otherwise? Or is Hahn saying there is no organizational philosophy, but in this specific case they didn't want to give one to a guy they would be committing $250m to?

He also reminded Kaplan that while it was awhile ago, Albert Joey Belle had a player opt out in his Sox contract.

That was Ron Schuler as GM. In fact has the KW/Hahn regime ever signed a BIG TIME free agent? Belle was really the last one.

Adam Dunn was the last, purported, TOP free agent in an off season that they signed. I did not want them to sign Dunn and I had the same vibe with all the Machado talk. Harper, on the other hand.....

We don't have a philosophy against it. It's just that I never have seen a player who deserves one.

White Sox need a lot of airtime to set the NARRATIVE.

They are actually better served to stay invisible. This is going to continue to make things worse. There is no narrative. No Story.

They didn't want to pay him what turned out to be market value after selling the fan base they were ready to be in the market. Bad.

Up until the 11th hour, the White Sox were the market.

And the market didn't include the four of the biggest players, so essentially they were unable/unwilling to compete with even small market teams.

Smart to avoid a great interviewer like Parkins in favor of getting tossed soft balls by Leery. Hahn knows they fucked up badly and wants to avoid the Pax treatment from the afternoon show.

Yeah. That's why this was pre recorded. Rick knew this would be easy with softy Larry.

White Sox wanted it this way. I don't know when it was recorded, but probably when Mac and Parkins could have done it live.

Sox wanted the safe Larry for the SCORE interview.

They were scared of Bernstein as well. Which they shouldn't have been because Rick is Jewish so Bernstein would have been kind as well. Bernstein is only tough on the Catholics.

And then he did it with Kap earlier. Another softy. But he was the safer Jewish guy in Rick's mine.

Hey, I'm just telling you how things work in public relations. Sox think about this shit.

Mac & Park were hyping this interview; guess it fell flat.

They even had BIG VOICE GUY do a promo for the “must-listen” interview. Was it actually prerecorded?
