Tony Gill who rose from intern to executive producer at Entercom sports/talk WSCR 670-AM, has been hired by NBC Sport Chicago as a podcast producer. He’ll start in early December.

Gill most recently has been producer of Laurence Holmes’s midday show at The Score and numerous podcasts, including Julie DiCaro’s “Behind the Headlines.” “Beyond all of that, Tony is special person and I for one am going to miss his smile and terrific attitude every day I see him!” Mitch Rosen, program director of The Score, told staffers in an email.

NBC Recruiter: Tony, the job pays minimum wage.

Tony: WTF?? I worked hard to become an executive producer. I deserve at least $16/hour.

NBC Recruiter: You don't have to talk to Julie DiCaro any more.

Tony: Sign me the fuck up. Minimum wage is fine.

Herb Lawrence replacing Tony starting on Monday.

Every time I hear Tony speak, I find him to be a dumb ass. I don't even understand why this is a better job then the one he has. Whatever. Congrats.

Tony's pairing with Julie was an odd one. Even matched with flamboyant Larry Tony is really laid back.Tony is an independent thinker who doesn't follow the crowd. Julie would be amazed at how unhip Tony was. When he produced Les, Les would stifle his opinions like he does to all his producers, and Tony pretty much then just gave Les short answers. His Bulls podcast is very good.

Holmes show is more like a, "Best of the Score", show which relies on replays from the previous nights play by play and taped segments from other shows to fill the few hours he is one the air. He may rely on producers more than any other show in the history of the station. Amazing how little they pay the producer who pretty much develops all the content for the show.

When you work in a declining industry there is no need pressure on the employer to be competitive in the benefits realm. If the kid had the smarts to get into healthcare or engineering he would be more marketable and likely be offered a stronger benefits package. Kind of funny how you see all the commercials that talk about being your own boss or working as a contractor and making your own schedule, they never mention that the cost of those type of jobs is having to find and pay for your own benefits packages.

Holmes only has a 2 hour show. The podcast stuff with Julie probably did not count.
