Score isn't gonna fire the only black guy they have in these times. Doesn't matter that he sucks. But he's gonna benefit from this from a personal stand point. Cuz I'm sure they were considering wacking him. Can't do it now. What's the phrase... it would be "bad optics". People like saying that. |

That's always been the case. Even in good times. I've never heard a guy compliment himself more than Larry. Have always noticed that about him through his career. He likes to pat himself on the back more than anybody. |

Agreed. Can’t see how they justify firing him. I’ve never been a fan and will continue to ignore his show. |

He can be just as boring when there's no sports to talk about as when there are sports to talk about. What a pro. |

He doesn't remind me of anybody I know. Maybe an 11 year old. When he behaves and talks like a kid. But he doesn't remind me of any adult. He's a grandstanding, self-righteous, unself-aware, self-loving jack ass. But I guess this article praises him. I would have wrote a different article about him. |

I find some of his enthusiasm silly and all the comic book stuff is lame. McKnight and Goff became unlistenable for me but Holmes is just annoying and not entertaining so I always listen to something else. |

He's creepy with women and a complete dork, but he's not the biggest waste of air time on the station. 1. ZZ 2. Mully 3. Haugh 4. Bernstein All four of these ass wipes are decisively worse than Larry. |

I've been in the car again a bit lately. Laurence's interviews have actually gotten much better. When he can be a regular fan, he's actually improving quite a bit. I hope. |

Nah, he speaks to people like he's a 6 year old. Example... Larry: You're really, really, really great. I like cookies, do you like cookies? David Ross: What? |

You really missed the boat on this one, Beardown. RPB and I have been telling everyone for 10+ years how great Laurence, with a “u”, is. People laughed at us. Called us names. But who’s laughing now? Nobody really. I don’t think people are paying attention. |

Joe Orr Road Rod wrote: I can see a time coming where Larry works morning drive and Les takes all the other shifts. you could do a lot worse than that cuz les is the essence of sports talk radio. he loves sports, he loves talking to people, and he doesn't let politics come in and run his show, my personal experiences with talking to les (for up to 30mins during breaks at the library) were just like listening to his show. it also helps that he's an oldschool professional broadcaster going back to WLS and sportsphone and etc whereas someone like leisure suit larry was raised on "score culture" aka "the dan bernstein school of broadcasting" and while i'd be disingenuous to sit here like bernstein didnt co-pilot a lot of afternoons in my life, at the same time the paradigm shift to REALLY. IMPORTANT. RADIO. with penn state changed him, cuz now it's like he feels some social responsibility to report things like his kid asking him if they were gonna come take the jews away and he responded with his most infamous quote of "i don't know, son, i don't know" and thats just patently insane, especially for someone as intellectual as bernstein always came off as. that said, i had a chance to hang out next to the bernstein family as they ate dinner at cleo's during a b&b remote board meetup at cleo's back in the day (hanley even made an appearance) and they were a totally cool chill and normal family, so maybe bernstein's putting on an act/show with some of this social justice-y stuff. that said, even tho ppl make fun of les for the media guides and stuff (and i was originally called over to help les with the scanner for media guides) still his legit passion for both sports and talking are what make him such a natural at his job and arguably the GOAT in terms of pure sports talk. vintage b&b was the most entertaining in its heyday, but for talking sports nobody does it better than les. |

I was a big fan of Holmes...before...I started posting on this board haha. Then I could only notice his tendency to pronounce Terry as Teery. And the like. His fake tough guy act is also down right embarrassing. He is truly convinced he’s a brawler of some kind. He might have the fire inside him and been in some real scraps but he’s a simple rotund middle aged guy. And I guarantee he’s not strong at all. Anyways...he’s a very solid interviewer but I find his woke, contemporary outrage to be a bit disingenuous at times. Him playing “best of Maddon” interviews multiple times after Joe was let go is also very strange. |

I realize this makes no sense, but I liked him in the evenings when I was driving home or running errands. Sort of calm and easy to listen to. I don’t care for him during the day. His low energy demeanor just bores me. |

Larry is really pounding Jason Heyward's charitable work to no ends. He has a full on-air segment, then a separate podcast dedicated to praising him. And this is only once of multiple times in the past. Mentioning it fine. Just seems over the top. |

We all know that Larry is not that good at his job. He usually just replays whatever happened at the station the previous 24 hours. Although, some of his interviews are pretty good. Credit him for that. He was passed over about 28 times for a daytime shift. He finally got 12-2 which is a throwaway shift, when the station fired a few folks. He is a minority, he has a disability, and he makes next to nothing. Of course the SCORE wants him around. Why do you think he has to teach and moonlight at pod casts and other low paying part time gigs? He has been let go by three TV stations. I admire his ability to survive, but I do feel sorry for him, actually. Probably a good neighbor, but not really cut out for big city radio. Also, his fake tough guy routine is tired and laughable. |
