Quote:
According to Nielsen Audio, the stations were in a tight race for weekday prime (M-F 6a – 7p). The Score finished tied for 12th with a 2.9 share while ESPN 1000 was four spots behind earning a 2.7. In comparison, both stations did a 3.3 in the winter book, which largely took place before the sports hiatus.

In morning drive, The Score’s Mully and Haugh finished the book in 13th place with a 2.8, down from their 4.5 winter number. Year-over-year, Mully and Haugh dropped nearly five points from the 2019 spring book which occurred while the Cubs were in action. ESPN 1000’s simulcast of Golic and Wingo placed ninth in their final book as morning co-hosts. Surprisingly, the show saw a ratings increase in the spring with a 4.3 share, up a half point from the winter book.

...

From 9a – noon, both stations were again in a tight ratings battle. ESPN 1000’s David Kaplan finished 12th with a 2.9, while Dan Bernstein was right behind with a 2.8 for The Score. Kap & Company dropped from a 3.5 share in the winter, while Bernstein was up almost a half point from what was his final book with co-host Connor McKnight.

The noon – 2p timeslot went to The Score, as Laurence Holmes fared well during the sports hiatus, tied for 11th with a 3.1 share which was up from his 2.9 in the winter book. For ESPN 1000, Carmen & Jurko dipped from a 3.2 share during the winter, to a 19th place finish and a 2.4 rating in the spring book.

Rounding out the weekday lineup, The Score finished 13th from 2 – 6p as their afternoon show with Dan McNeil and Danny Parkins earned a 3.1 share, a slight drop from their 3.4 over the winter. ESPN 1000’s afternoon duo of Tom Waddle and Marc Silverman finished tied for 18th with a 2 share.

Looks like the full turn to SJW Radio during the pandemic has finally pissed away the overall ratings lead the Score had over MVP for, what, a decade?

Apparently people HATE Mully & Haugh, but like Bernstein Solo compared to him and McDoink?

You really have to hand it to Laurence, legit.

I really did enjoy his evening show. I don't listen during the day anymore. But, that guy just keeps on keepin' on.

He's definitely not a guy you want to meet in a hallway.

I dont get the love for Lawrence but whatever. He isnt awful. Haugh on the other hand is absolute fucking painful to listen to. He has bad thoughts and cant communicate his bad thoughts very well. I hear his voice on the radio and the Score is off until the evening (possibly not on again at all). Once he is gone everyone else is tolerable and I can leave it on again all day. Until then they are lucky if they get an hour from me all day.

I said this awhile back after listening to one of his shows. He is built for these strange times. His show naturally fits in a time when there are no sports to talk about.

I am still not a big fan, but he has done some good work during this pandemic

I've taken lunch at the same time every day for the past month. Which means I catch Larry in the car.

I wouldn't search his show out. It's not offensive. It's not entertaining. It's not funny. It's not...anything.

Sounds like he's destined for ESPN radio.

I just don't really see how McDoink detracted in any way from Dan's shtick such that people would rather listen to Dan solo than Dan paired with Connor.

Your "gotcha" to me saying I don't know why people would rather listen to Dan solo is me saying that Connor is a "sycophant" who acts as a "jumping off point" for Dan's liberal tendencies? That's pretty weak, Rick.

It's pretty clear you didn't think Connor was a good fit with Dan.

Except for me saying "part of his allure was that he was just liberal enough and just enough of a sycophant to Bernstein to act as a jumping off point for Dan" and the qualifier for my statement today being "such that people would rather listen to Dan solo than Dan paired with Connor" yeah, I guess. Try harder, Rick.

The fact that you would even offer up the idea that a post where I was literally talking about the "allure" of Connor McKnight was simultaneously a post where I said him and Bernstein were not a good fit is embarrassing for yourself.

His 'best of the score' re-run of interviews seems to be working.

Nobody cares what he thought. Bernstein, as wrong and ignorant as he often is, at least has an opinion.

Was Connor a good fit with Bernstein?

However, since you are lawyering your way out of that comment, I'll present one of the many other times you put down Connor.

McKnight was so annoying that I stopped listening to their show. Their banter and interviews were terrible and their overall exuberance for stats, trends, and deeper level sports analysis was a major turnoff. It had nothing to do with politics since I mostly agree with Bernstein politically. Now that McKnight is gone, I listen to Bernstein's show often depending on the guest.

I'd rather hear Bernstein talk, than McKnight doing a poor Bernstein impersonation. McKnight was superfluous, did detract from the show, and the show is better without him.

Connor McKnight was a living, breathing detraction.

His voice was awful.

His agreeing with every stance Dan took was nauseating.

He had an inordinate love for stats.

He was more bland than plain yogurt.

His youtube channel has 93 subscribers.

He's so bad, he quit his own videos on youtube after only three.

Warren is being kind calling him superfluous.

Hell you could probably create a “best” of JDC channel featuring More than Mean as the headliner, and you’d attract a dozen or so people from here.

Major market radio host that had all of 93 people wanting to hear what he said after he was cut loose.

The pandemic was a perfect excuse to dump him and DiCaro.

The station is better off without both of them.

He may be the most talent less host ever to be on a regular day part show.

Speaks volumes to Mitch's ear for talent.

DeCastro's too.
