Was just coming here to say that! MET going off the air was a grave enough trauma to be mentioned in our high school yearbook. "The noise is over!"

Maybe they'll bring back Chuck Swirskey on Sunday nights with "The Bottom Line on Sports". For you youngsters out there, Chuck and The sports Reporters on WGN were the original Chicago sports yakkers...Chet came along later.

I like that their imaging is kind of a cross between WMET and Rock 103.5. Too bad there's no reason to listen to music radio anymore.

i remember when the darkness first got big with i believe in a thing called love that my (baseball) uncle would tell me "rock's coming back, jimmy!" and there was such pride and decadence emanating off of him that i never wanted to burst his bubble.

now stone pony is raking about DJ raper? do i even wanna know? "one of the mysteries of life" he says, meanwhile bernetti promised you fthe meaning of life by the end of the broadcast so there's a reason to stay tuned to an otherwise menial white sox game.

Chet started at WMAQ radio (ironically 670) when they bounced him from the TV sports because Carol Marin didn't like him. So 1984ish? He moved to 1000 when his WMAQ contract ran out.

They need a rock station that promotes new bands.

That’s what I liked about The Blaze back in the day. Exposed me to a ton of metal bands.

how the fuck did I miss this?

I will check this out.

Still pissed off that they bumped off 95.1 WIIL in favor of this Club Steppin bullshit.

ETA: Ok, so the first tune I hear is Matchbox 20's Push. Odd, but I like MB20 so it's ok. Then after that, Sweet Child o' Mine.
I think this'll work. Although I'm more of an active rock guy.

I was fine with the hair band music of the Blaze...even though they arrived at the descent of the Hair Band era.
BUT...let's be clear....that was NOT metal...AT ALL.

I wouldn't go that far...they also played some progressive metal groups like Dream Theater, Extreme, etc.

I thought you meant Rock, the dumbass who worked for North and got bamboozled in the Webio shitfest.

Did he? I really don’t remember him leaving the station with the others. I know he ended up with Mully and Hanley before heading down to Tampa.

I've never listened to Kiss FM's morning show. I'm sure she's enough of a pro to pivot from vapid hot-celeb-news sidekick to rawk chick without missing a beat, though.

Chet really brought the hype!
