I know I'm in a minority listening to this, but Stone said that it's unfair to call Jaques Jones a "loser" and basically lectured Murph on what it means to be major leaguer. Murph meanwhile is being an overdefensive red assed prick and won't shut up as usual.

How many people feel like Stone is going to deck Murph? I can't stand how Murph asks him to explain himself and then interrupts less than 10 seconds later.

I'm surprised Stone came back after the break. He probably threatened to wring Murph's neck when they were off the air.

This was great stuff. More evidence as to why no one want to work with Murphy.

It's like listening to a teacher try to talk to a 5th grader that won't listen. And I am even more sure of this after hearing Murph say, "Disagree to agree"

heard the very beginning, sounded awkward, especially how they set it up with that email, switched it off and continued to take my dump

Murph is just way too fixated on Jones. I mean most talk guys have probably called athletes losers before, but Murph's taking it to a creepy stalker level.

How about Murph's drop, "and Ed Lynch is still on the Cubs' payroll". Let it go Murph.

Did anyone hear when Murph said 'I"m surrounded by STONES and I love it".....I'm sure he meant it in his usual psuedo-gay way.

Oh god, I just had a flashback of my old "Counting Murph Drops" thread. Even worse is the Andy the Clown one that he continues to find a way to use somehow.

I defend you alot Murph, but well beyond a shadow of a doubt, I'm convinced that you orchestrated the calls and the outcome.

That makes you Tool of the Year.

Excellent post, glad you guy's have come around.

One correction---Murph is TOOL OF THE CENTURY!!!!

I've only listened to about five minutes of this conversation, and it's already one of the most one-sided talks I've heard in a while.

I'm a murph supporter but I just heard the show on podcast and murph comes out as a real ass.

I dont know why he takes things so personally. Also, calling a player a loser is very unprofessional since he is in the media. Then a caller had called trying to be on murph's side, and stone told him he was wrong, then murph accuses stone of yelling at the caller, when he definately did not.

Stone played the game, so I'll take his argument on this over murph's.

I'll give Murphy credit - his show has a lot of loyal listeners, and the ratings show that somebody is listening. I say loyal listeners because so many of his segments are old and just sound way too gimimicky to think that newer listeners would continue listening. He is known for his Cub talk, and that's probably another segment (Cub fans) that listen.

I don't mind his baseball conversation as long as it doesn't involve him having some sort of segment (judge murphy, ect)., but he has an unhealthy obsession with Jacque Jones. I don't think Murphy understands that One player, particularly a hitter like Jones who hits 6 or 7 in the lineup does not impact the game the way Murphy sugests. I agree that Jones does stink, but he's a role player. Murphy needs to get off the Jones hate.

You have to admit, Jones doesnt seem to ever come through in a key situation. I also agree that Murph is taking this thing with him too far. Does Murph actually believe that if he keeps ripping him that will force the Cubs to trade him? It is what it is and when Jason Marquis gets rocked it doesnt matter who is in RF.

I don't like Jacque Jones. Even moreso with Soriano in LF and Pie in CF, the Cubs really don't need him. He does make a lot of mistakes, and I don't have any issue with Murphy thinking he's not a good ballplayer. It just is rather ridiculous how over the top he is in his hatred for Jones. Yes, Jones messes up, but so does several other players on the team who are far more important to the team's success.

I won't believe this is Murph's a Tool until you call him a POS.

Spmack, good catch!!

Murph is a thin skinned, useless, whiny POS!!!
And that is on a good day. He is the most disliked person in radio and continues his tradition of being a POS to everyone he comes in contact with.

What are the odds that Murph's a Tool is actually Dana?

Please explain to me how someone could take Murph's side during this rampage.
Steve continually used facts to back up his points on Jones and Gary Woods.
He also made a more reasonable point for Lou's suspension.
Murph was frustrated through the first 15 to 20 minutes of the discussion. A majority of the callers disagreed with his points. Murph kept trying to use his "knowledge" to assert his claims, why Stone used baseball knowledge to shoot down several of Mike
's points.
Steve never sounded like he was shouting over the broadcast, unlike Murph.
Murph kept cutting in on Stone or cutting off callers, especially those who disagreed. Stone wrapped up one caller's point, and Murph chimed in that the former pitcher was scaring guys off the radio.
I'm not a big fan of Stone, but Murph lost his cool and sounded like a jerk.

Murphy just does not like Jones, and, from all accounts, is a jerk.

Murph also thinks that since "Stoney" is an ex-Cubs employee, he's willing to just fire away at the Cubs players/staff/management. While Steve Stone comes across as a know it all jerk at times, he was factually correct on Jones.

Honestly, I can't see why anyone would want to go on Murph's show period, as unless you declare Cubs fan, and a bleacher bum, your opinion doesn't matter to Murph.

Steve Stone also has an interest in not bashing Cubs players because of the fact that he thinks he has a chance to be GM starting next year.

Murph helped to get North a big break in the industry. They are deeply loyal to each other. It appears that is a rarity in the business.

That would make sense why the two of them are tight, both have no background in journalism/broadcasting. Mully, Hanley, Boers, Berstein all at least know a bit about daily/weekly/periodically producing information. North and Murph are really fans with a radio gig, which is fine, but its also where you see their weaknesses.
