A recording of the 10 p.m. newscast that night showed Giangreco wrapping up a story about Canadian hockey star Spencer Jenkin painting his house while on roller skates and said: “Gotta get him a show on DIY Network. We’ll call it ‘House Fix with Sticks,’ and Cheryl can play the ditzy, combative interior decorator. I got it all worked out.”

Sources said Burton complained to management about Giangreco’s comment, resulting in his suspension. Talks are said to be under way that could lead to his termination after 27 years as the station’s top sports anchor. Giangreco has 18 months left on his contract.

I wish Cheryl had gone to Mark, he would have apologized. Do you know how many times on air he alluded to me having a plentiful rear end? I thought he was funny like a snot nosed younger brother. I was never offended, but I know if I had been he would have felt awful. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. It would be tragic if his career ended over this.

I'm wondering if he has a clause in his contract where if he is sat for X number of days his contract is voided ala Goff. It would make sense with stations like ABC wanting to cut costs as ad dollars hard to come by.

That was nice of her to put out there. I don't really see what Burton was offended by. There is a bit of truth in the stereotype of the decorators on those types of shows. He didn't call her a ditz or combative but that she could play that part.

I dislike Giangreco with the fire of a thousand suns , his half hour hits with Waddle and Silvy are the worst half hour of sports radio in town but thats fucking ridiculous.
