If there was someone to counter some of Murph's opinions, and just take a bit of the load so we don't have to listen to his cheesy voice all the time... would that improve the show? Since the Score seems to be so high on Laurence or Zach, would Murph be more bearable if one of those guys, or someone else co-hosted with him? Or would that just make the show more unlistenable?

It would make it even worse. Murph with any kind of guest is uncomfortable radio. He cuts people off, shoves his opinion down their throat, and when they leave gets on his pulpit to shove his opinion down the listeners throat when the guest has no chance to defend themselves. Each week after he has Stone on, you can guarantee the next several days after that he's going to spend going over how correct he was in whatever they were discussing, like his great idea of escalating penalties for hit batters.

What I find is that Murph running under constrained time is fairly uncomfortable. Along those lines, the 2 hour show adds a lot of stress, as did the morning drive-in where he had to fit segments between the updates. You want entertaining Murph (well, nevermind that!), then you give him a 4-hour show. Like, 6-10pm...

Hoo boy! I would pay to hear that show. The comedic possibilities are endless. Murph and Annie talking about the "obstruction play" for about 45 minutes.

Would anyone on that station even want to work with Murph?

I'd co-host with him. Granted, I'd lock the studio door before he could get in there, as to spare folks from hearing "Miss a little, miss a lot" and "What's your beef (as long as its with Cubs management/Jauqce-Strap Jones?)"

Agreed that it would be painful if Murph was paired with most people. I just wonder if maybe the show would be better if he had someone with him that accommodates him. The only person I can think of for that task is Fred.

Murph used to get sidekicks that he seemingly had to train. Buffone I think was the last one. This was like, years and years ago... Outside of Fred, they were all fairly uncomfortable affairs.
