Didn't post in Barstool thread for this is for Chicago only, but Barstool is about to make a huge impact in Chicago this summer.
Dan "Big Cat" is moving here and Hank and a whole bunch of national Barstool guys are coming. Eddy is the biggest name already in Chicago, but it is possible for Barstool Chicago to beat out The Score and ESPN 1000, esp for those 18-45.

Love to hear thoughts? I think right now for AM radio you got Waddle and Silvy podcasts when they have guests and maybe Parkins and Spiegs at times. Both stations just seem bland and boring right now and I do think a lot has to do with all Chicago sports teams being terrible.

Why would espn or the score be concerned if it's a podcast? If they started broadcasting on AM or FM..yeah, they'd be concerned

What is Hank going to do in Chicago? Certainly not draw numbers. He's a producer. Big Cat does his PMT podcast 3 times a week, right? That's his focus, as it should be. He and PFT make a shit ton of money from it. What other national Barstool guys are coming?

I just don't understand "Barstool Chicago" beating out 670 and/or 1000. Carl, Eddy, whatever other names who work for Barstool Chicago ain't moving the needle. They're not attracting the 18-35 or 18-45 demo. If you want that, you're going to have to bring some or all of the members of The Yak.

They're not beating them cause they're not on the AM radio dial. IF they did have one, 670 and 1000 are bad enough where anyone could beat them, but it's a dying industry. No reason for Barstool or anyone else to enter the radio market.

Correct

It would be like Ford entering the horse and buggy business today.

Big Cat is a good friend of mine. He's done recon for me a few times, most recently when we rescued Pro's Sports Bar out in Country Club Hills. Big Cat knows bars, he knows a properly made drink, and he knows what it takes to succeed in Country Club Hills.

You guys that don't listen or are mocking Barstool are totally missing out. I have a short 30 minute commute and listen to at least parts of Pardon My Take most days. Way better content than anything on local radio, three days a week is timely enough, I can skip the commercials if I chose, and the interviews are fantastic. If I switch back to 670 I immediately regret it because it's either a commercial or just plain bad radio. Pardon My Take reminds me of what the Score was in the 90's. Guys having fun talking sports with zero concern for social justice or politics. Dan and PFT and the rest of the guys are sports fans first. Their takes are funny and you know they at least watched all the games they are talking about and, if they didn't, they're honest about it and still have funny opinions. The gambling talk is not even close to being the main point of the show. Rather, it's just in the context of the entertainment.

Having them living in Chicago will just make it better because now they'll have some local takes too.

Seriously, give them a listen.

No one is arguing the Pardon My Take podcast isn't great or doesn't make a shit ton of money. That's a national podcast and will remain national.

The point is that the local Barstool Chicago crew doing an hour long snake sandwich draft isn't drawing more people than 670 or 1000 listeners.

I’m in the PMT-only camp.

Every other barstool employee seems to read at a third grade level.

Naming it Barstool was no accident.

Obviously not an am station, question is will it become more popular and might already be more popular than AM radio in Chicago.

Those 18-35 I can't imagine listening to AM radio. The market for them is Barstool. Podcasts, twitter, gambling, gamedays, etc.

I think AM sports radio is for those 40+

Outside of Parkins, everyone on the Score and ESPN1000 are old.
