THUMBS UP -

For calling attention to the embarassing segment "Who's Now" that they are doing on Sportscenter. The one I saw was Tiger Woods against Matt Leinert, I believe. The whole thing is horrible and shows how hard ESPN is trying to still be "it". They are failing.

Quote:
Who's now? Who cares
Author Steve Fiffer of Evanston has found a good way to mock the inane "Who's Now" series ESPN has been running during "SportsCenter."

If you haven't seen "Who's Now," consider yourself lucky. The segments consist of three panelists—Michael Wilbon, Kirk Herbstreit and Keyshawn Johnson—debating which of two athletes is more, uh, "now," based on their on-field performance and off-field buzz.

The other day voters on ESPN.com determined LeBron James is "now-er" than surfer Kelly Slater. This will go on and on until the "now-est" sports star is determined from the original field of 32.

THUMBS DOWN -

I know many of you care but, here goes again, for listing this weekend's USG Sheetrock 400 in Joliet as the 4th item on the weekend's sports events. I understand being behind the Cubs/Sox, but behind the freakin' ESPY's? Give me a break. People around here may not believe it but this sport is still wildly popular and the ESPYs are a masturbatory, self-serving, self-backpatting joke.

Not nearly as egregious as the travesty of Sidney Crosby losing to Derek Jeter, despite Crosby winning the fan vote.
