Last book of the year before Lite FM goes crazy, though they're doing surprisingly well without Christmas music.

B96 is just about dead. Top 40/CHR is a youth format on a medium with no youth listeners. They've tried to go half-throwback, but I don't think it's doing any good (and if anything, it's cannibalizing 104.3). I think the only thing keeping it alive is the fact that it's B96 and that still means something to people. Heck, it means something to me. But it's circling the drain, even if they stick "Yeah!" or "We Found Love" in the playlist here and there, and it wouldn't surprise me if Audacy finally kills it off, cedes what's left of CHR to Kiss FM, and puts local Score programming on FM, BetQL to AM.

Does the Bears coverage on ESPN have an FM outlet?

100.3's HD-2, if that counts. (It doesn't.)

Wow, their ratings dropped in half in 2-3 months during Bears season?

Nah, just went down half a point. Little bump once the Bears started up (remember, the "October" book is really September: 9/12-10/9, to be precise), then dipped back down when the Bears started to regress ("November," 10/10-11/6).

I'd be fine if they would, like 'BBM, go on FM. Often I have trouble understanding some of their AM broadcast, especially soundbites and Tanny's opening clips; the HD2 channel cuts in and out, and it takes me 10 minutes to get it to play live on the app when I am sitting down. So I would not even try to attempt that while driving.

On a percentage basis it is an 18.5% drop. (2.2-2.7)/2.7

It's an indictment of the on air talent if the ratings are entirely dependent on the quality of the teams.

Local talk on 670 will be extinct in a few years.

ScoreIsDoomed was making this same proclamation 25 years ago.

Imagine how much better the board was 12.5 times 2 years ago.

I've been saying this for years as well. The recent promotion of Holmes to drive time just proves me right - the show is trash. So glad I cut the cord on this crap .

It's a shame really. Used to be lots of appointment radio on AM. Now it is mostly a wasteland.

The explosion of podcast content has more than made up the gap.

If you like history, Mike Duncan will entertain you for years. If you like current events, dabble in Lex Fridman. If you want something different, give Cement City season 3 a swing.

Try Audacy. It has all the WSCR 'talent' but 30% more commercials, randomly inserted and extremely loud!

 been there done that while driving around the great state of Michigan for work. It caused me to consider driving into the Flint River.

I'd advise against Lex Fridman while driving. You might fall asleep. The guy is boring as all fuck. I don't understand how his show is compelling. The reason he even has a show is because he went on Rogan's podcast and does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so Rogan promoted him.

Difference is we're now in an era where Audacy is starting to scrap legacy station formats such as WCBS

Also, I took your comment to mean that 670 would be all-national while the local programming would move to FM. Coincidentally, Audacy would be scrapping another CBS legacy O&O to do so if B96 got the ax.

Like most things, as soon as Trump came on the political scene in 2015, it broke brains. We saw this with the Bernstein & Goff show and how that went downhill quickly. I give WMVP credit for keeping things fun and non-political.

Trump broke brains for inbred and people who don't know how to read. But Radio is on the dial is probably dead in 5 years. I think 670 survives but itll prolly combing with CHGO and be able to steam it live via phone in your car.

Yup, it seemed our local heroes decided that they must do their part and try to belittle anything that wasn't part of the DNC media sphere we used to call mainstream media, sadly they killed the golden goose as they offended half or more of the potential sports talk audience, so were preaching to a smaller and smaller audience which surely made advertisers happy.

Who can forget Goff and Bernstein telling people to not listen during their hapless show, just want you want to hear if you had shelled out a few bucks to advertise your local sports bar.

They were not alone, you are now seeing the death spiral of MSNBC as well, turns out there are very few people that actually think like Danny Bernstein, must be quite sobering as he has always thought of himself as the smartest person in any room he enters.

Not specifically about the Score, but my wife bought a new car last winter. I drove around one afternoon swearing at the radio because I couldn't find the AM stations. The car doesn't have AM available.
