Can Mariotti's be one of them? Please?

Let's see, the bus list has to include: Mariotti(common sense), Telander(useless), Brad Biggs (aren't his & Mully's columns different only by mere degrees), whoever the hockey guy is (Hanley can cover that again), the soccer/olympic sports guy (if they have one or two, no one really cares about their work product, or sorry to say the sports they cover), Steinberg (one trick pony), Mitchell(same), Ihnatko (the tech guy makes no sense in a dying format), Esther Cepeda (what does she offer?), Stella (Kup's dead and who cares who eats at Gibson's), Sneed for the same reasons(plus make the strange Zwecker work for a living- f it, fire his weird ass as well), the music guy (we get it, everything blows & only tween acts make $), the outdoors guy (they can't get ads or advertisers anywhere near that page ), that guy w/the bow tie that reviews marketing(?), the whole comics staff (no one reads it, so that syndication $ can be saved), Susanna Homan & Paige Weiser(??---congrats, you know where the parties were, are/were getting married & who cares-they're both poor writers).

That's gotta be be at least half +3 or 4 of the planned cuts, but recognizing the need for more filler, at least 1-2 new, hungry columnists (news hopefully) would have to be added. Net cut 15 jobs with probably some of the larger contracts gone. ST News Group, you're welcome.

These are probably the guys that get the feeds from AP and cut and copy for the paper. I doubt any big names go.

Sadly enough, you are probably exactly right. But I can dream.

Greg Couch and Carol Slezak should be updating resume's real soon. Talk about totally useless columnists. Telander is pathetic and should have been gone a long time ago.
Mariotti at least has readers and makes people talk about him and his column, the others are whiny little bitches that NO ONE cares about or gives a shit about their weak, meaningless opinions.

i hope they keep the AP guys and realize that they're paying columnists to essentially write blogs. do some reporting or gtfo.

I wonder if Elliott Harris survives? He's the essence of fluff - and he's been there quite awhile.

I was bummed to read TV critic Doug Elfman was given his walking papers (in Feder's column today).

Bill Zwecker should be dismissed immediately - all the guy does is report what the NYPost reports the day before. This is today's column. Let's see what he uses in Monday's column:

Also interesting that Roman Modrowski is no longer doing the Sunday two page spread. I like Ro-Mo's work and I hope he's not let go.

Shitcan Mary Mitchell. Maybe Tavis Smiley can write a column in her place?

You have to add Telander and Couch to that list-just awful and useless too.

Is it any surprise? Hell, most of us read the internet now, and choose what we want to read rather than having to read something decided for us on the first several pages of a news paper ...

I'm not sure who will lose their jobs as a result of the ongoing cutbacks at the Sun-Times, but Rob Feder announced he's leaving in his column one day last week. I believe it's one of the posts in the "Mac, Jurko & Harry" section.

And it was just bumped by the spambot directly above my post also.

As long as he keeps posting it likely will.
