ED SHERMAN SAYS:
From the good idea department, WSCR-AM program director Mitch Rosen instituted a new feature Monday. Called "Best of the Best," SCR will replay interviews or exchanges on previous shows in 60- to 70-second sound bites throughout the day. It gives the listener a chance to hear what he has been missing.

Just a little hyperbole there..."best of the best"? They play clips from every show. Every day. So how can all of them be the best?

It might actually be a good idea if executed differently. If they didn't play them non-stop, and not all the time- just when there actually WAS something good that happened, it could be effective. Yesterday I heard a clip from Mully & Hanley with Boomer Esiason talking about Romo and Jessica Simpson. THAT was the best of the best?

Ed Sherman should be fired immediately.

As I said in the other thread, "Best of the Best" does not work when THERE IS NOTHING HAPPENING IN CHICAGO SPORTS RIGHT NOW. It's just ill-timed cross-promotion. Wait until there are stories happening--not Joakim Noah shit--to promote North, Mully/Hanley, and Murph by way of Boers & Bernstein, when the soundbites might actually be compelling.

I wouldn't care if they did it once an hour, but they seem to do it during every commerical break, and it gets be extremely annoying. It sounds like an infomerical.

And it undercuts the talk time for the show you're actually trying to listen to. Guess what, if I want to hear Murph's show, I'll tune in to hear it between noon and two.

Kind of like a 'best of show" the same kind I have been pushing for years.

Do they still have Score values? LOL

That cracked me up. Not only was it a joke, they used my tape recorder from 1978 to record the shows.

That statement is why Ed should stick with his bad golf coverage.

They had a best of show in the pre 5 a.m. hours of the glory years. Great stuff.

What a surprise...Eddie Sherman likes something that's stupid and awful.

Well I guess in theory that while not enjoying host #A, you hear the blurb for host #B, decide he's more your style, and you adjust your listening habits to pick up his show. Which begs why you were listening to host A in the first place.

A more funny ad campaign would be to run a segment of Mike & Mike, ask why you're listening to lame shit like that, and push the North Morning Fiasco instead. (Funny because I'd rather listen to M&M, because it doesn't offend)

At what point does someone there realize pushing Norths show just isnt worth it?

I think they do, I was actually listening to some of the late night garbage because they were doing some post game interviews I wanted to hear from one of the football games on a Sun night, and all of a sudden Andy Garcia cuts in for Score values to interview some guy about tea or some hand cream or something, brutal stuff

I'd prefer some kind of archives show. I know I was once watching old Letterman shows and clips on NBC.com . Don't be scared to give me some HFC, or a North classic moment, classic interviews, going back to historic Chicago sports moments (day after a championship), hell, even that lame 10 year anniversary party (who doesn't need TDubb every once in a while)? Even if it was a real short segment and/or filled with commercials, I'd still listen.
