Looks like Larry gets the most shifts. They also throw in Zac, Brian, Goff and Drinky. I think Goff has been getting more shifts than Drinky now. That's a reversal. Did Goff surpass you on the Score's power rankings Drinky?

The Score is going on the cheap. They never pair any of these slugs up for a night time show. Always solo shows. It's cost effective. They get the same ad rates for evening no matter who's hosting. Why pay 2 hosts when you can pay one? All of these backups are worse without a partner. Not that they are great when they have a partner.

They just have to fill the evenings until the White Sox start playing every night come April. Right now the Blackhawks play a couple week night games so they just have to fill 6-7:30 on some nights. When the Hawks play on the east coast they start right when B&B finish. They also have DePaul games.

Don't forget the stimulating Northern Illinois Hoops! Now there's a deal they wish they had never signed.

If they really want to save money, put all the young guys on from 6am-10am.
I'm sure the product would be a huge improvement for far less money.

Even if they bring North back, it would be insane if he anything less than a 50% pay cut for his return in ratings.

That would free up at least $500,000, and a lot more if they cut the chord.

Yeah, because they certainly fell off the national radar since the time the deal was signed.

And then fewer commercials! Everytime I get into the car and hit SCR it's a commercial.

For hoops, they have never been on the national radar.

As bad as some of these part-timer night shows are, anything is better than the 2nd tier live events the Score seems to love broadcasting. Anytime DePaul, Northern, or the Blackhawks come on, it's an instant channel change for me.

You guys might not like the Score having the Blackhawks, DePaul and NIU but it's obvious the Score makes more money having them rather than putting on talk shows. They wouldn't do it otherwise.

All of those teams pay the Score for the air time and the Score has no responsibility of selling ads or paying producers and hosts.

I guess it shows you how little money night time shows generate. It's more profitable to sell air time to NIU than it is to sell Larry, Zac, Drinky or Goff.

I'll bet Dan Patrick's company paid the Score a shit load to put him on too. Even though it's 10am-1am and tape delayed. They just want the Chicago market and they are hoping to convince the Score to put him on live in middays. If Patrick's company offer the Score enough they will put him on live in Chicago one day. It's all about money. If it's more profitable to put Patrick on live they will do it.

Didn't they air the games an hour or two AFTER the game began ?

If they do this then they would be no different then ESPN and ESPN has alot more talent then the SCORE. Sure they would get a nice boost in revenue, but it would be at the cost of losing a major percent of their listeners. Why would anyone listen to the SCORE over EPSN if they go national?

The ONLY reason I listen to the 2nd tier SCORE is because they are local sports talk. This is a huge advantage over ESPN, yet the talent is so piss poor (Brian "wipping boy" aka mancows bitch) that I find myself switching over to ESPN because the talent is far superior to the score.

The SCORE can't even get the overnight national shows correct. When I listen to the guy from Sportingnews Radio, (the pay if forward guy, forget his name) I want to run my car into the nearest tree or snow plow.

I hope the score can turn things around, beginning with letting the old geezers leave, North,Murph,Fred and Terry. Find some good young talent and revive our cities sports talk. It's bad enough our sports team suck, does the radio stations have to suck as well?

Am I the only one who actually likes Paruch's show? I'd much rather listen to him than some of the daytime guys the Score's got on right now. Murph, Heubner, I'm looking in your direction here....

This timeslot has some pretty horrid radio at times. The producers and rookies are honing there skills as autocratic sports-dogma hosts. Forcing a guy to talk to himself by himself in a closet-like room for 2 - 4 hours has got to be driving people insane (both us the listeners as well as the solo hosts).

In all fairness, they've got to start somewhere. I do think LHo, Drinky, and Goff are coming around and could become viable prime time guys. Zak could become a good play by play Chuck Swirsky.

Havent seen any Arbitrons for that slot, but WGN's Kaplan should be annihilating the Score 'minor league/practice radio'. Moneywise too, unless evening radio ad revenue is really that tiny. Such a shame.

The kids can talk !?! How bout Disney 1300AM putting out a local sports show?

A GenX /Y sports show could probably work. Sorry. In my sports talk world I need my crotchety old geezers. Buffone & OB are proof of the point. Classic. Gotta remember history or its gone. You could flush out the 1st 3 you mentioned maybe, but Boers is my guy. (maybe North too but he slips up alot) Boers was the original Mariotti before Mariotti, yet he can still laugh it off. Bernzy may now be able to stand alone, but he sure learned alot from the master, Larry Horse.

The one old geezer that needs to be put back on the air is Grobstein.
Sports $$ marketing$$ Pravda tries to gloss over and trivialize the past and Chicago traditions, but the Grobber remembers. Detail by detail. Bring back the Grobber !

Ideally, I'd like to see a Dan Jiggets and Doug Buffone from 6p to 8p or so, followed by a Score younger talent from 8 to 11.

Dan Jiggets was way to boring for my taste.
