Cy's Dad passed last night, my sympathy to his family.

Sorry to hear that. Don't be a stranger Cy, and my condolences.

It's never easy to see a loved one go. Seeing the stories in the paper, the last few months may have been worse for the family than the actual event.(damn insurance companies) In any case, here is one of my favorite funeral poems that I have used before. It might be cheesy, but here goes:

Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away.

With apologies to Hawkeye Vince, this is John Donne:

DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then;
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

That's very good too IB. I had found the poem above once looking for writing a eulogy of a cousin who passed.
