From Ted Cox in the Herald:

" . . . middays remain the Score's time to dominate. From noon to 2 p.m., the Score's Mike Murphy was the top English-language show in town"

Wow. 'Nuff said.

Imagine how good the Score could do if they broadcast in English from 6-10 AM, too!

LOL. When will our pain go away? I keep looking for that light at the end of the tunnel... (I know it'll be a train)

What's the meaning of this thread?
While flying in the face of facts, there is a certain poster here who will dispute Murph's ratings and relevance to sports radio. All the while, he will be ballyhooing a couple of nattering-nay-bobs, whose altar he seems to worship at the foot of.
This particular fellow will actually ignore anything of substance and continue to operate under his own perverted reality.
He is really a sad sack, but entertaining to those of us who have a solid grasp on the real world.
Joust away there pal.

Despite the hate, I still like Murph. Hes my guy and I hope to meet him at some point. Not in a weird stalker way, but more in a guy I respect as a sports radio guy thats done a good job with what he has. Hes no mcneil, but he is not that bad. I dont know what im talking about cause ive been drinking.

He's a little creepy in person. Bumped into him at Connie's on Archer. Looks like an aging hippie who was forced to get a bad haircut.

Oh. I guess I can see that.

What was the actual number?
I didn't see the number in Ted's column either.

If you're referring to me, who started it, I'm simply stating what was to me an interesting fact and giving kudos to the guy. I'm not a Murph-hater and I'm just saying, #1 in English-speaking radio in his time slot? Wow, that's amazing, with no sarcasm intended.

No Pappy's Crappy, not referring to you at all. I am also one of the few Murph fans here. I understood exactly what you meant.
It was a sarcastic jab at someone completely different, whose original name escapes me. He's not really that important.
But a character in The Life of Brian keeps coming to mind.

Produce some numbers for the Murph show, and we can have an interesting discussion.

It doesn't matter -- North gets his ratings, and I don't like his act. I don't expect Tool and POS have any different opinions...

Ask and you shall receive.
Reason, you mention that I disregard facts when discussing Murph's ratings or his relevance to sports radio. You have made claims about Murphy's consistent numbers throughout the years but haven't provided those numbers. When asked for these FACTS, I've been directed to Mitch Rosen. I'm still awaiting these facts -- outside of the last book. BTW, that information was provided by another poster. I'm still waiting for YOU to provide these FACTS.
As for Murph's relevance, I have posted before that I enjoyed listening to Murph when he was at WLS. I believed he has changed -- I don't care for him as much -- but I have never written that I refuse to listen to his show. I don't always agree with Murph but he is one of the founding fathers of sports-talk radio in Chicago.
Secondly, I consider myself a fan of B and B, but I haven't always agreed with their actions. I certainly don't worship them. I have written posts about Terry's "sports-retarded" phrase and how it annoys me. I have posted about specific occasions where the duo has looked foolish. One time dealt with a Bobby Knight fan where they were over the top with the caller, and he made them look like boobs by maintaining a calming tone. I also have written on more than one occasion about their questions about a Paul Konerko base running decision in a home game against the Kansas City Royals. B and B disagreed with what Konerko did, but callers defended the move and called it baseball strategy. B and B spent the new few hours making fun of the caller. They were so full of themselves that they had one of the roving reporters ask Joey Cora about the decision. Cora agreed with the callers, and B and B spent the last hour of their show whining and doubting the intelligence of the move.
I'm not a big fan of MJH, but I have praised Mac for his work with autism and applauded last week's interview with Jerry Angelo.
The same goes for Jesse Rogers. I don't really care for his radio reports, but I was the one who started the shoutout thread for his work last Thursday and his rebuttal skills on Hit and Run.
I consider myself to be somewhat objective with my opinions, and I try to keep an open mind on things. Use the above examples as some proof for my last sentence. That's why I can only chuckle about these jabs.

.

In all fairness, this topic has been frequently debated on this board over the years. There is a fairly good history of "numbers" if you do some research. It really is not incumbent upon him to produce the numbers when it has already been established. If you wish to refute the proof, review the information and build your case.

Excuse me, but Reason is the one who disagreed with my statement.
I'll remember your "advice" in the future. I'll just write that this a fact and belittle the poster when they ask for proof.

If it has been proven in several instances in the past and is readily available on the board, feel free.

It might be easier if you take a moment and make a list of all the tasks that you want posters to do for YOU. Then we can decide on an individual basis if we want to tell you to to go... aww forget it. I'm done talkin to you.
