I wonder if Murph is smarting because of the North situation...he seems even more thin-skinned than usual the past few days, which is really something

Yesterday (and again today) he spent about an hour going over with Jesee about how much a Gatorade jug weighed. Riveting

And now for some reason he keeps calling Jesse "Snoopy Rogers". Jesse really puts up with a lot of shit

Maybe because Murph sounds like The Peanuts' teacher that he calls Jesse Snoopy?

Murph also just lost his only friend at that station. Mully/Hanley/Boers/Bernstein won't really work well with the guy; and North always seemed to be the one who stood up to the others.

Maybe he's upset about not being able to cram things into a four-hour show?

Everybody should be on edge. Think about it: the guy with the longest tenure and most fame (well, press) is no longer there. How secure should everyone else be?

Murph's show is at its best when he's edgy and out of his mind. I wonder how he may melt if someone nominates him for "Tool" today.

The guy with the longest tenure isn't there anymore due to money; no matter what North says. As Farmio would put it, "Folks, when the player says it isn't about the money, it usually is." If Murph or anyone else at the station is doing their job, they don't have issues with management. If you fail to deliver after being heralded as a "radio icon" *barf* and come contract time, you want to continue at the same pay even though you didn't produce? Sorry, life won't work that way in pay for play workplaces.

I did find it BS that his "Tool" segment was screened big time. You mean to tell me that only ONE PERSON called in about it to say CBS was wrong to "fire" North? And only ONE person called in to say North deserved the Tool for his attitude?

Murph should give himself the tool award evey other week. He is the most thinned skinned host on SPorts Radio. Yes even worse than North was.

Murph barely lets his listeners get a thought in. He's always talking over them & interupting them. I heard that is why Stone won't go on anymore. Can't finish a thought. billyk

Nothing bothers me more when the Cubs/Sox are playing very well into September and October, yet the Score turns to almost all Bears conversation. Many years ago, Murph and Fred were an oasis in the sea of crappy football discussions. They fit well together, got into good arguments with one another and with callers and hit a lot of great baseball topics. Unfortunately, the Maxfield Project came along and fucked that up royally.

Now, Murph is stuck alone, which is really not the ideal situation for sports radio, and his hours were cut so he has to cram everything in to a 2 hour show. Is he the best host on the radio? No. But most of you ripping on this guy have no idea what you are talking about and can't justify your criticisms.

It is funny that the people who claim to hate Murph know his show so well. Also, we all have been told ad nauseum that this is a Bears Town that too many folks believe they MUST talk more Bears than anything else, no matter how the Cubs or Sox are doing.

My Monday lunch hours now SUCK. Cubs have a great division clinching victory at home on a saturday...and I get to hear mush mouth & brain dead talk about how the bears blew another game. I enjoy the BB chatter especially with two winning teams. I understand the shots at Murph...he is sort of a tool...but for me, a baseball & cubs fan, I like to listen in because that is typically his focus. Did you notice AM1000 had a local flavor on Monday at noon and they focused on baseball?? That's what I listened to.

Hoff, you just listed two criticisms of the show and not Murph, but I think the reason Murph is alone is no one wants to work with him. The 2 hr. show is not his fault. However, if he would swallow his pride and ask Fred ON AIR to come back with him, maybe he'd force a pairing and their show would be good again. For a list of Murph's wrongs, start with the 164 reasons Murph sucks thread. Some of those reasons are dumb, but many are valid. And yes, I do tune into him if I want to listen to sportsradio during that timeslot, due to being unable to tune in AM1000.

Fred is actually a decent host. He caught a lot of heat from posters here because of his role on the MNMS, but I heard his show following B&B the other day. Not bad.

He did the 1-hour bridge between B&B and White Sox pregame a couple of days this week.

Fred and Murph work on at least two levels:

1. Fred's a die-sock white hard fan and Murph bleeds blue...
2. Fred knows something about football which makes up for Murph's general lack of intelligence on the sport...
3. Fred is polished and well spoken but vanilla plain...Murph is slow spoken and rough...so they balance each other out on that too...
4. Fred used to do the Murph and Fred scoreboard updates, so they wouldn't need to hire another update guy, they'd just need to pay Fred better...

Well that's four to start...I could probably think up more. I would REGULARLY listen to that show despite my disdain for Murph.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the ratings were like for that team but I listened to them more than M&M. The MNMS changed that. But Murph alone....bad, very bad.

All Information is alleged and 100% Unreliable, but I think M&F beat M&M more often than not...why not admit you made a mistake and put them on 10-2? I will know the score has their stuff figured out if that ever does that...
