That's what he says on his myspace blog. He'll be hosting the 10-12 slot all of next week. He said no final decision has been made by the Score. He said Paula Faris, Steve Stone and others will be guest hosting with him.

He considers next week to be an audition. He says he's gonna do everything he can to prove his worth. Christ, Larry has hosted enough shows. Is he all of a sudden not gonna suck? Is he gonna try not to suck since this is an audition? Did he not try in evenings cuz it wasn't a day shift?

Larry saying hosting a day show is his dream is no big deal. That goes without saying. All of the backups at the Score have a dream of a regular day part shift. I doubt Larry specifically dreams of midday. Wouldn't you rather have a drive time shift? That's prime time. He just said midday, specifically, cuz that's the job that's open.

I don't know what Mitch is gonna discover from Larry in this audition. He's gonna be the Larry we've all come to know.

Larry's just about as obnoxious and self-centred as Mike North. That's four solid hours, from the end of M+H to the start of B+B, that I will have zero interest in listening to the Score. ESPN should take this opportunity to shake up their schedule a bit, maybe by putting Carmen/Hood/Dickerson or whomever's doing that show into Tirico's slot.

It is an upgrade in the sense that I am going from 6 hours of radio silence (MNMS, Murph) to only 4 (Me Show, Murph) but the thing that sucks now is that there is a gaping, vapid black hole of disinterest in the middle of the day when I am far more likely to listen (rarely ever up early enough to hear more than an hour or so of the 6-10 shift).

I don't hate Larry as much as everyone else, but I just don't think The Me Show is cut out for a 2 hour afternoon shift. He strikes me as a nighttime host.

The day that Paula is there should be full of awkwardness, creepiness, and leering by Urkel that you can actually "see" over the radio. He'll probably mention his "relationship" with Ginger Zee several times, too.

Yup, if you are listening to the show when Paula Ferris is in on your headphones and your ears start getting wet, it's not sweat, it's Larry's drool and other bodily liquids oozing through the airwaves.

To paraphrase Bears' head coach Lovie Smith, "Laurence, Laurence, Laurence!" When I suggested Laurence be considered for a full time slot at 670 "The SCORE", I didn't think for a second you'd be considered for middays, or should I say mid-mornings. I suggested you & Brian "Whipping Boy" Paruch for morning drive, as a potential new sound to replace Mike North. Being the midday host at WSCR isn't quite a "dream job", and I think you should reach higher than 10a-Noon. Besides, it's not a done deal by a longshot that Mike Mulligan & Brian Hanley are officially taking over mornings, though it seems like every promo sounds like they've already been promoted to the coveted time slot.

Who wants to have to wake up everday at 3am to do a show at 5 in the morning? I'd rather work Murph's shift, wake up at 10, get home by 3pm, make 6 figures a year. 8)

Yeah, that'd be acceptable. Well, all of them have to watch a lot of sports as preparation for their show, so it's longer than 10-3, but even so...

As for Larry, any regular show slot would be his dream show. I find him to be a lightweight on every facet, from reporting to hosting. But we'll see: he's up against a lightweight show (far lighter than Mike and Mike)

Technically you are correct, howevah, the watching sports stuff is the fun part (or else we all wouldn't be here) and I wouldn't really count that as work (I mean who doesn't sit there with a yellow pad and take notes, c'mon! ). It's also much easier to catch most of the games (except day baseball games) with those hours.

fuck Holmes. I think I'd rather have the OG in that slot. On second thought, no I wouldn't.
Paruch and Drinky for a while might be worth a listen.

The good thing about this is if he sucks we wont have to deal with him for five years like North. Its not like there going to pay him much and they wll launch him in six months if he doesnt get raitngs.

I'm shocked Mitch just hasn't given him this slot. Kind of a slap in the face to Larry that he has to "try out." He's been trying out for a day part since he's been at the Score. Mully and Hanley beat him for the last opening. If Mitch doesn't think he could do it he shouldn't have let Larry be their number 1 sub all of these years. Maybe it's just Mitch showing who's boss. Making him sweat.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he should get the job. But Mitch should know, by now, if he thinks Larry can do it.

If Larry doesn't get this shift he'll never get a day shift.

Paruch would be nice. Maybe with Bartosch. I wouldn't mind a return of Grobber, either.

Somewhere, Fred is out there in the pool too. Not a strong host, but stronger than an update guy.

The problem with grabbing Drinky or Jason is that you're weakening the production side of the B&B show. If I were in Mitch's shoes, I'd give those ideas less credence.

On Saturday's show, Larry took a new approach to the show and I found it horrible. I thought I was listening to Dan Patrick - no calls, long pauses, teases into the next segment. I'd rather have angry Larry than Dan Patrick.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why so many guys here dislike LoHo. I mean, I've noticed a lot of his annoying traits that have been pointed out, but they really don't bother me. Personally I find Zach Zaidman to be by far the worst host on that station, especially since Andy Garcia left.

If it makes you feel better, Kid, I don't like Zach either. But Larry is horrible. I'm unable to listen from 10-12 anyway but guess what?

Larry is grading is own damn tryout shows. He thought Day 1 was solid. Shit, Larry, if you say so it must be true. I'll bet you'll give your self a good score for all of the shows. Just a guess.

Larry's Bears reporting is good, and when he comes off as the shameless comic/video game/wrestling uber-dork, I find him to be very funny and engaging. When he tries to be an ersatz Dan Bernstein, it's bad radio. This is the case for many Score backups.

Just the overall creepiness of today's show was enough to make me change. Larry going on about "Ginger" and what a good dancer she is and then telling Paula what an honor it is to be a MILF. That was the sum total of the 5-8 minutes that I listened to today.

I think it's time to go to plan B.

Stay classy, Lawrence.

I didn't hear that much, but I thought I heard Laurence mentioning Ginger Zee during the times he got face time during football season on NBC 5's Sunday morning newscast with the Jimmy Fallon-looking Rob Elgas, Zoraida Sambolin & Ellie Pae Hong last fall previewing the Bears' game, plus "educating" Zoraida & Ellie Pae a specific football term at the end of the segment around 8:10a or so...I thought I also heard Paula Faris mention something about changing her hair to not confuse her with the NBC weekend meteorologist...It wasn't exactly riveting radio.

Larry's got self-confidence issues. He thinks he has to be this serious Dan Bernstein, smart type of individual, and it just comes across as bad and un-natural.

Then he tries to come off as some cool guy who out and about the town meeting women. That is weird and awkward as well.

Laurence, I know you read these boards, or at least one of your friends does. Be yourself man and just have fun on the air. When you did WrestleManiacs with Hood, you were fine.

Post subject:  Re: Larry: "Being the midday host at the Score is my dream job."

Larry always comes across as phony to me. He is socially awkward. He can't play the smart role cuz he's not.

Let me get this straight. Larry told Paula she should be honored to be a MILF? Is that right?

What a disgusting thing to say to a married women with a child. I don't think Larry realizes it. I guess it sounds OK when you use the initials MILF. But think about what he said.

"Paula, you should be honored that you are a mother I'd like to fuck."

I swear to God, if I were Paula's husband I'd knock him out. I figured it would go something this. Larry trying to be cool in front of the pretty girl and making a fool of himself. Probably creeping Paula out. She probably smiled and took it in stride while begging, in silence, for the 2 hours to go by.

LoHo needs to get over the whole pronunciation of "DeRosa" thing. Not only is it retardedly trivial...it's not...you know...funny.

The Bear Whisperer is by and far the worst host at the station and I cannot fathom how he keeps getting shifts.
