Score management is doing it's best to make the station slightly better than high school or college radio. Who are all these interns and producers they constantly put on the air? Is it because they don't have to pay them much? I use to listen all day to the Score. Not anymore. I listen to Hanley & Mulligan and sometimes Murphy. The rest of the air time sucks.

I think you are referring to the likes of Laurence Holmes, Matt Abbatacola & Jason Goff. These guys started as producers at WSCR who only recently got a chance to get behind the mike at 670 "The SCORE", not only interacting with Dan Bernstein, Terry Boers & other hosts, but having a chance to host shows to call their own. The other thing that I notice is there are too many "me shows", not to be confused with the one that LoHo used to host. I notice whenever these guys get an airshift, it's usually one guy with an occasional appearance from his producer & the update anchor every 30 minutes. I've always felt that talk radio is better when you have at least 2 voices in the studio interacting on a specific topic, regardless if its sports, news, or general talk. I've read in this forum that it might be cheaper to have one voice on the air...

Simple math tells you that, unless someone wants to tell me 2*0=0 and 1*0=0. Score's always had a lot of "amateur hours" over the years, and Sporting News doesn't always have "A" talent, either. (and they're showing up more in the daylight hours!)

SHARK - Holmes isn't "recently" auditioning, he's been failing at it for over 10 years!

I always thought WSCR sounded a lot like a college station. I'm suprised the station is still on the air. I used to be a big fan of the score and never listen to ESPN 1000. I find myself now listening to ESPN 1000 (when they have local programming) more and more.

the wording on this is exactly the same as the Glory Days post...are you and Kishin one and the same? by the way, speaking of high school, the contraction it's means it is...so your sentance reads "The Score doing it is best to sound like HS Radio..."

Give the station a little credit, they got rid of North. that improved radio in Chicago by 10 fold.

It was long overdue that 'SCR told North to get lost!

It's a radio station dedicated to sports. Of course its going to sound like college radio. Hell, even ESPN has a college feel for certain shows; MJH and Waddle/Silvy for certain.

I actually want to hear Murph talk cubs. Maybe they can take a few of Larry's 50 hours of fill in each week and let him rip. Maybe he could do a little hit and run when the co host is too busy playing in his cover band to show up to work the next day.

COF, may I ask what you are doing responding to 2 year old threads with answers/statements to unrelated topics?
