Score management is doing it's best to make the station slightly better than high school or college radio. Who are all these interns and producers they constantly put on the air? Is it because they don't have to pay them much? I use to listen all day to the Score. Not anymore. I listen to Hanley & Mulligan and sometimes Murphy. The rest of the air time sucks. Its become a "Space Odyssey" since 2001. |

It seems more and more, that The Score weekends is sounding more and more like AM1000 ESPN on weekends. What's with all this Sporting News crap on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon? Not cool. |

It beats listening to Brain Paruch, Matty and the other part time hosts they throw out there. |

I've heard promos on the score saying how local they are. Everytime I turn on the station during the weekend all I hear is Sporting news. I thought the score was "local" unlike that other station. And at night I'm hearing Dan Patrick talk about sporting events that have already happened. |

They're flipping Sporting News Radio on before like 1 in the morning now? Yikes. Such is the price for Dan Hampton, I guess. |

Yeah, I'm afraid it's become quite a trend at "The SCORE" every weekend. Even before they moved their offices & studios to Los Angeles earlier this year, Sporting News Radio on "The SCORE" was supposed to supply overnight programming in a cost-cutting move authorized by the bigshots at CBS. I've also noticed Saturday afternoons, rather than air live, local sports talk, the team of Bob Berger & Bob Stelton are holding court live on 670. Also, after Chris Rongey wrapped up the White Sox Radio Network postgame show Saturday night, Peter Brown was actually hosting a show on SNR. Yes, it's the same Peter who was one of the founding fathers of ESPN Radio, and had a brief cup of coffee here before "Mac, Jurko & Harry" opened up ESPN 1000's "Afternoon Saloon".
Not cool. |

I believe you are correct, and I think Rick Starr actually is a sports radio consultant based in Seattle that "Mac" has mentioned from time to time on the "Afternoon Saloon". When I mention Mr. Starr's name, you know what kind of a life I have... Anyway, in the early years of Comcast SportsNet, they aired a show called "The Business of Sports", which I believe covered sports from a financial perspective, and Rick was one of the guys interviewed on this show which I believe was produced by Rogers SportsNet, Canada's answer to Comcast. |

there's a post by rstarre entitled something like "WSCR doing it's best to sound like a high school station", and it reads almost word for thought for this post by Kishin...seemed like too much of a coincidence... |

In his defense, he is a relative newcomer to the board so he has fortunately probably not interacted with Riles much. |

I think Cairo has a man crush on Dan Bernstien. Its get'n kinda creepy. I picture a room in his trailer with pictures of Dan Bernstien everywhere and lots of lotion bottles all over the place. Have fun with that. And yeah, we know your heroes are Dan and Terry. The Score is making a comeback with the morning show and Murph's consistency but between Holmes/Hampton and the 2-6 hate fest and the part timers taking time away fron their Gap jobs, they have along way to go. Still to uncomfortable for me to listen to. |

The format change is about a year away as they continue to get their ass kicked in almost every time slot. CBS won't continue the format if it stays as big a ratings disaster as it is. A distant second in a two man race. |

While bosses at "The SCORE" were disappointed in the Spring Arbitron ratings book they just had, I don't think CBS Radio bigshots are about to pull the plug on the local sports talk WSCR has offered for 16 years now, the last 8 of which at 670 AM. Unlike on the FM side, format switches are rare on the AM side, where most people who listen get talk, news, sports & play by play coverage of national & local teams. Music on the AM side is few & far between now.

Is it schtick or do boers and murphy really not like each other? It's not shtick, and I believe if anyone knows the real story why Boers hates "Murph" and vice versa, "Mac" definitely knows & has spoken about it on his own show. |
