For many years, the Chicago Tribune has had a pair of Sports Media columnists. The first part of the year was always done by Teddy Greenstein until the late summer when Teddy goes exclusively on the College Football beat. The second part of the year was done by Ed Sherman until the spring where he would go exclusively on the Golf beat. This is the time of year when Teddy Greenstein hands the baton off to Ed Sherman. Except this year, Ed's not there to take the baton. According to Teddy Greenstein, Ed Sherman has accepted a buyout of his contract and chosen to leave the Trib. He is among a number or Tribune writers who are doing so. Ed Sherman will now focus on some freelance work. He will also be writing a book due out next year that is all about the best & worst of Chicago Sports. ESPN 1000's DAN MCNEIL is co-authoring the book with Ed Sherman!

Sherman will probably write the book, Dan will stand over his shoulder and play grammer dick. "Ed, that should be 'they're' not 'their'! What did they teach you at U of I anyway?"
