Mancow on WLS-AM, an update by Phil Rosenthal One oddity of Erich "Mancow" Muller doing one show for national consumption via syndication and one ostensibly for just Chicago on WLS-AM 890 is how material gets repurposed. Here he compared Pat Cassidy, the WBBM-AM 780 import who has been sitting in with him, to Michigan Avenue and himself to Lower Wacker, Cassidy to Gibson's and himself to Mr. Beef, and so on. As noted on Muller's Mancow.com site, for the national program on which Cassidy does not appear, the metaphors assigned to him in Muller's little ode went to none other than Rush Limbaugh. Almost a week into his return to local radio, Muller's Chicago show still has far more of a "Mancow's Morning Madhouse" feel than WLS listeners were led to expect. For one thing, Muller's "Madhouse"-mates Ken "Al Roker Jr." Smith and Dana "Marissa" DeLorenzo -- carryovers from the nationally syndicated program Muller still does before going on WLS -- have been crowding out Cassidy. Cassidy is expected to continue as part of the 9-to-11 a.m. Chicago show, at least through next week. But unless Muller ditches the others and relies less on choppy, taped bits from the earlier national program, Cassidy might well be a better fit as part of Don and Roma Wade's popular morning drive program. The Wades' WLS contract expires in a week or so, but it's expected a deal will be reached soon. |

What is a WLS feel? Don't they air Coast to Coast (UFO not pointspreads). I turned it on last night to listen to conservative desperation in the face of an Obama victory and they featured some guy named Levine who sounded like Billy Crystal doing an impression of an old talk show host. |

I've caught the last couple of mins of Cow's show on WLS on the way home on some days. It's a shame he can't do the ol madhouse bits anymore. He's turned into that guy late at night on Fixnews that thinks he's still hip to the kids but has the mindset of a 50+ yr old guy with lots of money. It's a shame.....miss the old Cow -Rock |

If anyone wants to hear Mancow's syndicated "Morning Madhouse" with all the bits and characters he had on the shows that aired on the long since defunct "Rock 103.5" & Q101.1, the place to go is Mancow.com on the Internet. Ever since WKQX decided to part company with Mancow in 2006, morning drive ratings are as small as when Howard Stern left the former 105.9 WCKG before they became "Fresh" about a year ago this month. Mancow still has a "Morning Madhouse", but it airs on stations outside Chicago via the Free Speech Radio Network. He broadcasts that show every morning from the WLS 890 studios, but it's not heard on ANY Chicago radio station, including "The Big 89". Mancow's new show is heard ONLY on WLS between 9-11a weekdays under the terms of his new 2 year contract. |

I understand u can't rip your boss publicly, but don't come on here and lie your ass off either. by the way the old cow sucked also. nothing more than a bad howard stern ripoff. |

I caught mancow on wed. and it was awful, just bad. Mancow wasnt never a favorite of mine, but I just realized he isnt nearly as smart or informed as he thinks he is. |

Hey Rock Know anyone else that resembles your remark? "He's turned into that guy late at night on Fixnews that thinks he's still hip to the kids but has the mindset of a 50+ yr old guy with lots of money." lol I was a fan of "Car Phone Eric", but couldnt listen to a full show, but he was a good alternative, always through some good stuff on the radio. |
