Wild Bill was one of the early regular callers to the Score. I think he even won the first Sports Jeopardy on the Heavy Fuel Crew show. Although 'won' may be an understatement, he flat out dominated his matches. One of the most painful to listen to voices on the radio who often sounded as if he was having an asthma attack, but still funny.

haha very weird. thanks for the info. has he been an 'active' caller all these years or is it just a strange, silent "comeback?"

[Wild Bill]Bing! Bing! Bing![/Wild Bill]

That's (Wild Bill on "Sports Jeopardy!") one of my all-time favorite Score memories. I usually had no freakin' idea what he was saying/yelling when he called, but he almost always brought a smile to my face when he did.

Wild Bill is the original caller with a moniker in Chicago sports radio. He goes back to Chet if not Chuck Swirsky days on the old Loop.

Yeah Wild Bill is an O.G. I have not heard him call in in quite some time, but you will know him when you hear him. He didn't call in to the show, he was just at the remote in Naperville today.

He is, apparently, a rather large man.

Imagine if Bill Cartwright gargled shattered glass while he had laryngitis and that is what Wild Bill sounds like.

Wild Bill is still around? I figured he was dead by now. I wish I'd heard that.

"Wild Bill" is one of those callers who sounds like he's got a frog in his throat. It's an upset whenever the host mentions his name, yet isn't available. He's been a frequent caller to Chicago sports radio shows for years, and the hosts on duty get a real kick out of what he has to say whenever he picks up the phone...

From what I heard, Wild Bill lost quite a bit of weight.

He calls in to Hit and Ralph quite a bit. I don't hear him on much during the week.

Wild Bill is indeed a big man. He called many shows including my overnight shows on both the Score and WMVP. He also called the Weekend show T-Dub and I did in late 2002 and 2003 on ESPN-1000. Haven't talked to him in a while, but glad he's OK! He's a nice man.

I think I heard a few times he's a prison guard. Or was a guard. Anyway, he's a funny listen.

If I remember correctly Wild Bill used to call in so often that the SCORE instituted a rule about calling in once a week per show.

In the first year or two of The Score, there were 2 Wild Bills. The other was an old white guy. If I recall correctly, they had the two on the air at the same time and the Wild Bill we're discussing tore the other guy a new one. Never heard from the other guy ever again.

I think he still calls in but mostly on the weekends now... that's the only time I can remember hearing him within the last 3 or 4 years. Very unique voice -- if you can't tell if it is him or not, it's not.

Wild Bill goes back to the Coppock on Sports days and got his start during coppock's "Friday night Fights".

He has been calling the score since its inception in 1992 and is one of the most recognizable callers there is.

this is true but it's rarely enforced now...he goes back beyond Heavy Fuel, I know that...
