no this isn't a new show with mariotti, listened to show from 8am on. no real improvement from the first show. i would be embarrassed if i was the comcast executive that signed this show. it proves that north can't be in charge of any show. he still thinks that the general public adores him. like i said in another post, if this was a once a week, sports recap show, with north listening to sports producer, it might have a chance. jen does not belong on the air, she stumbles and stammers and adds nothing with her comments. jiggs is the same ass-kisser he has always been. hopefully the advertising will dry up soon and when north starts losing money and making excuses, he will pull the plug on this abortion of a show.

this show is neither awful or great. all these people ripping on him are just ridiculous and their reviews are as well. It's an ok show. It's certainly no better or worse than Mike and Mike. It might get better at some point because ultimately it's Nort's money on the line and I bet he's getting some coaching. The only thing that bugs me when I do tune in is the in-ear thing that he keeps fiddling with. I know I'm not the only one...

I don't know, CoF. I remembered over the weekend that I DVR'd a show last week. I think it was Tuesday's. So, I watched some of it. Mike looked bizarre. Kind of a weird-"I'm the fifth Beatle" hair style and that Affliction T-shirt that just does not look right on a man his age.

Then, they interviewed their interns and, if not for the creepy factor, I really don't know what that had going for it.

I imagine it will improve if it hasn't already but that image is kind of burned-in for me at this point.

I admittedly am speaking from a small sample size (6:40-7am) but I find myself tuning them in almost every weekday. I missed the creepy stuff with the interns though. But the guys that are just here to bash him and wouldn't admit if he had a decent show are the people that post referred to. Deacon Blues, SiD, Mr. Belvidere, and on the other side Ike South...I prefer to stick in the middle and say it's a so-so show that if I didn't have a TV in the bathroom wouldn't get my attention or my viritrol. Maybe a larger sample size would prove that it's an awful show. I'll certainly never know in that case.

Exactly.

It would not matter what North did, they would all bash him. I just ignore most of those posts anymore. Just consider the source and move on.

I have to admit that I'm starting to like the show. I don't think I'll ever get used to Jen's "fingernails on a chalkboard" voice though. I would much rather see Fred in this role. Anyone who says the show hasn't improved since day 1 just isn't being objective.

you want to hear something weird? My crystal ball sees Murph getting pushed out the front door of the Score in May when Mac comes in and Fred&Murph get reunited for a midday show on Comcast on the heels of Monsters in the Morning...simulcast on Radio one day down the line when Comcast goes to radio...

Again, those hours of watching that guy will be lost forever. I saw show one for twenty minutes and I was convinced. This is a Mike North production. enough said. Terrible across the board. If you like this show THAT says a lot about you. You guys want to waste your time with a show thats "not that bad" is your deal. Mike and Mike are not perfect but they are wayyyyyyyybetter than that shit. North could have tried to be original but the set and the bobble heads and mic's are almost the same as Mike and Mike. Except North's show had the "access chennel" feel. I will continue to avoid COMCAST in the morning like I always have. You guys that love North really show what kind of brainless idiots you really are. I'd be willing to bet that Comcast higher ups already regret this wreck.

that last sentance is what really makes you look silly. Look, I don't care at all for North. But he's got his fans and his show is not a cable access look. Have you even watched cable access? I used to do a cable access show and I can tell you this production is far above that. The fact that you would think Comcast regrets this move that MIKE is really playing for would to me be ignorant on your part. Comcast will regret nothing because they had nothing in the slot before that was a draw and their money is not really on the line. Mike and Mike are national. Monsters is local. That alone is a draw. In my small sample sizes, North lets Jiggs talk far more than he did during the nadir of the original Monsters.

oh, and channel is not spelled chennel. hey buddy.

To be totally fair the show is better then the first week, but it goes back to the main problem, when there is a flow, north stops it with a ass kissing read or just dumbe comments. Right now, this show is tolerable only because of jigs, which is a surprise.

Local like his night on the town? Or local like Jen JEn is so cute today? Local like Mikes rants about politics or the fact that his only preparation was a Sportscenter Highlight. Local or not, this show is put together and ran JUST SLIGHTLY BETTER than an access chAnnel. And my last sentence is clearly going to be the determining factor for North. From what I read here, the advertisers arent knocking down doors to get with that shitty show. North will have to be say something contraversial or or bigoted to try to SHOCK JOCK his way to better ratings. Will Comcast take the BAD PR just to fill three hours of TV time? HEads are rolling in that biz and Corno will pick food on his families plates over gettin canned for something North did/or said. Kenny Williams wont take his shit. Jerry R wont. Cubs brass wont. Paxson wont. They own that station. Dont forget that.

Comcast and Chicago sports teams create new television network

December 2, 2003

In a groundbreaking agreement that may be a model for future sports media deals, Comcast Corp. on Tuesday is expected to announce the launch of a sports cable TV network that would broadcast Cubs, White Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks games now run on Fox Sports Net Chicago.

The Philadelphia-based cable giant, which provides cable TV to about 1.7 million Chicago-area customers, will offer Comcast SportsNet Chicago to its subscribers next October.

Comcast, Blackhawks owner William Wirtz, White Sox and Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf and Tribune Co., which owns the Cubs and this newspaper, each would have an equity stake in Comcast SportsNet, according to a source involved in the negotiations.
