Post subject:  Hendry Interview

Mad props to Cubs GM Jim Hendry for putting up with Murph's crap during the show tody...Every question Murph asked had something to do with either something a writer wrote or something Dusty said on Pappy's show. Does Murph every have a thought of his own. He just reminded me why I dont listen to him anymore

Yes - Great thread started - I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING - he talks all the stuff, and then when he gets the guy on, he tries to make it seems as though he is above the average fan.

"Hey Jim, I'm not going to ask you what the fans want me to ask you"

Well WTF would you even bring it up? And isn't this the fan station?

Murph you are a POS (courtesy of "Murph's a Tool").

99% of all interviews w/ players, managers, GM's, are crap. They are not going to tell their true feelings because it it a lose-lose situation. Hendry is not going to rip Dusty and vice versa. Tough questions are asked to make it seem like murph or north is a good interviewer, while they know full well that the question will be dodged. Neither murph or north ask follow up questions because the don't want to piss off the guest, this is why the interviews with active players, coaches, etc are a waste of time. Stick to interviewing writers and retired players who might actually give their real opinions

My question is, what is Murph's obsession with what his interview subjects are having for lunch? He must have mentioned Hendry's can of soda and his sandwich 3 times.

He is kind of scary with his obsession. But then again, he really is one strange dude both on and off the air.

Who is Murph crapping? That was the worst interview I've ever heard, bar none. I wanted to hear about the free agent and trade situation, not about last season. What's done is done.

Murph talks tought until he gets guys like Hnedry on, then he backs off. Murph is gutless.

I will agree that he definitely backs down, and acts like he isn't complaining all season.

I really do appreciate that Murphy is a big Cubs fan, but he spends so much of his show Monday Morning QBing, it's hard to believe that he has only ripped Baker. I'm sure Hendry has gotten his hits as well from Murphy.

Glad you asked. 1p update with George Offman, he didn't even finish yet, when Murph interupts, and incorporates a continuing sound effect of a crowded gathering, and procedes to yell "it's the Score saloon! Come on down George!" I couldn't help but scream to my car radio, "shut up Murph you idiot!"

I missed the Hendry interview, but after the Offman update, Murph (I think) was pretending to be on the 1st floor of the NBC tower and talking to people... he had some caller on the air and was like "we got the drinks here and everything!" Ok... I am assuming, that after listening for less than 5 minutes, Murph was just pretending and that he was in fact, sitting in the Score studios. This is what I am assuming. And I am going to assume that Murph's fantasy Score saloon is something that a 7 year old ought to be doing.

At least when Hood had the barber shop segment, it wasn't this bad.

I agree, it's often an awkward thing. Dada is like that, sometimes...

Oh, you think that NBC building lobby saloon wasn't actually happening? What's next, fantasy chicken ranches?

I agree 100%. He is one of my least favorite people.

I think Murph's interview with Hendry was a lot better than Mike North's. He displayed the same passion for the Cubs and hate for Dusty that he does every day. He asked some tough question but he didn't get the answers he was looking for. I didn't like the fact that he kept interrupting Hendry and kept quoting beat writers from 1908. You could also tell Hendry was getting pissed at some of Murph's questions. The fact that he didn't change his tune about the things he didn't like was a plus to me.

I agree completely. At least Murph asked tough questions and followed them up. He wasn't a complete suck ass like North was. Yeah, the Score Saloon thing was stupid but I have to commend him for what I think was a very good interview.
