Given that Chicago currently doesn’t have a sports writer who swings the heavy hammer or is even that compelling of a read, and the demise of the Rocky Mountain News. Now would be the most opportune time for one of the Chicago papers to bring back Bernie Lincicome.

Unlike others who’ve returned back to Chicago, Bernie still has his literary fastball and would clearly be the “ace” of the local scribes.

Perhaps the biggest drawback would be that his return might be the deciding mass that would tip the competitive scales to the point that the other paper may suffer the same fate as the RMN.

Two newspaper city or having one must read writer?

Excellent call. Maybe he is sick of the mountains and is ready to return!

I have 4 guys in my roto league in Denver. 3 of them from Chicago. They love him out there.

Bernie was the best sportswriter ever in Chicago. Took a douchebag sports editor at the Trib to fuck it up and cause BL to eave town.
It would be a real coup for any newspaper that signs him.
Bring Him Back! He was worth 10 Mariottis.
Here's his last column at the Rocky...Enjoy The Weed King

I enjoyed Bernie, would not mine seeing him back. The only guys I read now are Rozner("We told you here a while back"),Imrem & Morrissey. They are ok,Rozner irritates me,but still a decent read.

Bernie would be an everyday read. Dying breed, those good sports communists...I mean, columnists...
