It's something Murph used to do all the time when he was on evenings, where you call in and say one sentence about something going on in the world of sports. The catch is that instead of just saying it, you also have to say the punctuation.

"Murph comma you are an idiot exclamation point"

That sorta thing.

Wasn't the other hook to this bit, that people got on quick, so as to not run up their cell minutes? Well, 99% of the people who call now have unlimited minutes, or more minutes than they could ever use, so it's time stop this bit. Murph doesn't even get acknowledged at his alma mater Lyons Township, becasue he's a tool, and that irks him.
