Spoke with a score advertiser who might be advertising on pre and postgame show. And he was told that Jesse Rogers will be the host and Mike North will have involvement in the game broadcast. What a shame that will not be able to enjoy the radio broadcasts anymore |

We've been fearing that for some time now. I've already come to the realization that I will only listen to the radio broadcast out of necessity (ie: stuck in traffic) and rarely if not never as a better alternative to Hawk & DJ. A sad state of affairs indeed. Jesse should consider himself the luckiest manmanman on the face of the earthearthearth. He has no fucking business getting that gig. It's a complete slap in the face to Sox fans. |

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I am pissed. What the f*ck does Jessie have on the higher ups at the station? How does North fit into this? Will he just wander down to his basement, whenever he thinks his opinion is called for? I'm imagining a Sox post game with a half drunk North chiming in from home. The management at this station has been completely castrated. |

North might be interesting paired with Farmer - he is very intelligent and presumably will not take any where near as much shit from Mike as everyone else does. Although Mike does "buddy-buddy" him a lot to get him into "ass-kiss" mode, that might wear thin when Mike realizes he is a fly on Farmio's ass in terms of live game broadcasting. Then, he might actually take a back seat - lest he go out like Dennis Miller on MNF (shamed, goofy, and off-key). I would listen, definitely. But Jesse has no business doing Sox stuff. He is not a real Sox fan, and he will make all Sox fans look like dopes. Hood was a C-O-C-K (and still is), but he would be the PERFECT person for the Sox pre/post gig. There is no one else at the channel that is suitable for the job. Sad. Noone. I would rather see them get Doug Padilla to do it or any combination of Kittle, Cangelosi, and McDowell - Now THAT would be a dream team! |

McDowell was suprisingly excellent filling in in the analyst role when Hawk had his eye surgery. I found him to be informative, literate, and had some good stories. Granted, the stories would probably get old after a while. I would have loved to hear him on a daily basis, but he has young children living in California. |

The paper today said Mike was out of the running. |

I suppose nothing is set in stone until they make a formal announcement, but the combination of panic over Jesse unjustifiably getting the gig along with the Score basically handing him White Sox evening coverage during the stretch run and postseason scares the hell out of me. I think it's going to be Jesse, and I think my days of listening to the Sox radio broadcast are over. |

As a Sox fan, I could not be more against this. I can't imagine that Mike North really is going to have a role in brodcasts, other than on an ocassional basis. First, he wont want to give up on his morning show. Second, would North really want to spend his summer in hot spots like Kansas City, Cleveland, and Detroit. Maybe he has some role in home games. But, I cant imagine he is willing to go on road trips. As for pre and post...why not Steve Olken? That makes too much sense. As far as an analyst....I would love to see Steve Stone do it, but that wont happen. Is this legit? |

I recall the horrible "Sports Huddle" on the old WMAQ where we were subjected to Steve Olken on a nightly basis. It was often difficult who was utterly clueless about sports-Chris Cross or Steve Olken. Steve should stay home and pursue other interests-he is HORRIBLE as a host. His complete lack of knowledge about sports would be exposed on a nightly basis. Even Jesse would be better although there has to be a better option. Dan Pleasac should be involved-either as a solo host or the analyst. |

Hey, the Huddle was all we had back when the Score shut down at sunset! (Just think, all you Murph-haters, back then Murph often had only a 15-minute bag!) So Ney-Ney! Right over 'eeere! Don't dis the wackyzany hour! |

Right over 'eeere! Don't dis the wackyzany hour! Talk about a bad, bad dream. Those quotes made me cringe-if people think Jessie Rogers is bad, Chris Cross (and Steve Olken) would send people scrambling for the "off" button at a record pace. It was simply painful. My favorite part of the Sports Huddle (besides the end of the show) was the fact they weren't on Sunday nights. As I recall, they took that night off. As you noted, the Score was shut down at night so there was nowhere to discuss the Bears game. The |

No mention of Laurence Holmes for pre-post? Passionate Sox fan, voice slightly less irritating than Jesse. I'd listen. But he probably doesn't have the (cough, cough) intangibles that Jesse has. |

Bigfan, why are you always apologizing for Jesse being terrible? It's amusing when B&B make him look stupid. It's not amusing when he is the pre/post game host for one of my favorite teams. Then again, since you are a Cubs fan, I suppose it's understandable. If they named Jesse as the new color man for the WGN broadcast, I'd probably need CPR to revive me from laughing myself to death. Either way, no one is that interested in the quotes, check out the ZERO responses (kind of like the North CD sales): http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2812 |
