It is just as legitimate as asking if WGN has ever had a black host.

And Julie was run off because at least in part she is a woman.

There is a large segment of female sports fans in this city.

I don't believe WSCR has ever had another female host in the long history of "The SCORE" at 820, 1160 or its current frequency of 670 AM besides Julie Swieca...Honest! I don't think Anne Maxfield's brief cup of coffee as co-host/news anchor of the defunct "Mike North Morning Show" counts, or any of the traffic reporters during morning drive. I thought NBC5's Peggy Kusinski hosted "The Point After" in the early years of ESPN Radio 1000 Saturday mornings before she shifted to TV full time some 5 years or so ago...Other than that, the only females in sports radio work in Bristol, CT. Christine Leasy & Amy Laurence are national "SportsCenter" anchors at ESPN Radio, and Amy has also hosted "Football Tonight" on the sports talk radio network.

Why does that question bother you so much?

"The Fabulous Sports Babe's" real name is Nanci Donnellan. She hosted middays in the early years of ESPN Radio nationally about 15 years or so ago when WMVP was known as Sports Radio 1000. Needless to say, she didn't look or sound as "Fabulous" as advertised...

When I was in Lubbock in the early 90's, she was one of the only sports talk shows on an am station that carried Rush & Jim Rome. I grew up on local Houston sports talk, so national shows were new to me. I appreciated just getting ANY sports talk at the time. I do have her book on my shelf of sports books....which also includes Greenie's book and "The Girl's Guide to NASCAR"
My collection DOES include the "34" series: the biographies of Earl, Hakeem & Nolan.

I still claim I am the one that got her off the Score. I made a drunk call to the station on the way home from a hockey game and the next evening she was off the air.
