Was Murph ever a reporter in the original days of The Score? If so, was he any good?

If they don't want Murph wasting times with middays, but don't wanna fire him, maybe he should cover the Bulls or the Blackhawks, lol. Or would he be like a Julie Sweica and be pissy with the players and personal...
