Not sure what it means, but found this on the CSWebio facebook page wall:

Hoody, when will we be able to hear you on our car radios, or from our bean bag in our garage?

Jonathan Hood at 9:36pm May 28
You have a bean bag in your garage? I'm jealous. THe answer is sooner than you think.

I think it means J. Hood is going to throw a bean bag into his garage?

My prediction before was that a rimshot station would be talked into picking up the CSW programming (effectively ending the whole Webio thing, though they'd still stream live), and I'm sticking to that. Someone somewhere is surely going to figure (or has figured) that Mike North and Chet Coppock are known commodities in Chicago radio and can still have an over-the-air audience. Part of me believes the whole Webio-only thing was just a stopgap until they made a deal with a station. They talked a good game about being progressive and being on iPhones and wireless internet car radio, but I think it's plain to see that such an approach, with this roster, is demographically untenable.

That could mean anything. He could be just talking about listening from IPhone.

I haven't tried, but I would think it already works on the iPhone. Then you could either headphone it to the input, or bluetooth it.

In short, doesn't it already work this way?

I agree completely with this. Just a matter of time.

They need an iPhone app. Aside from 2-6 when I'm glued to B&B I'd listen from my iPhone to Webby and Fred or Hood. No reason not to create an app with all the money they've thrown at this thing already. It could really help their numbers.

You can listen to it on the Pocket Tunes iPhone app. It costs $10 but you can also get the streaming Sirius/XM stations if you have a subscription.

Post subject:  Re: CSWebio Rumor?

Is Pappy still BFFs with Harvey Wells? Unless I missed something recently, WCPT (820 AM, daytimer) is currently repeated on FM stations in Arlington Heights (the late great Kiss FM/Energy of '99-'01ish), Kankakee, and Park Forest. Given that 820 itself has itself a nice daytime signal in Chicagoland, buttressing the coverage with iffy FM signals (though 92.7 out of Arl.Hts. is no weak stick) never seemed like a smart or calculated business plan, even for WCPT, which has pretty much failed to do (or even air) anything smart or calculated since signing on at 850 like five years ago or however long it's been.

Anyway, if you've ever listened to WCPT, which I have (there was a show on Saturdays called "Family Values With an Oy Vey" that was the paramount of fun-bad but it's not germane to this post; further details upon request), you'll know that there really is a place on our AM dial with more pathetic ad breaks than WSCR. We laugh at THE LAW TIGERZ and the various strip clubs and loan sharks, but good lord, at least they're running ads. WCPT's stop sets are barren affairs, fleshed out with numerous PSAs, and best of all, spots that thank what few sponsors they have and further encourage you to support them because they support liberal talk. Advertisements for their advertisers. Meta-spots.

Given that the reps at Newsweb must really be struggling to bring in advertisers for syndicated liberal talk like Stephanie Miller (I heard a few minutes of this and you should too; never again will you criticize Jason for overusing drops), Ed Schultz (bad, don't bother), and some other stuff nobody here seems to care about, I could see North making a pretty strong case that his stable of familiar faces has both a proven audience and a proven advertiser base, and if they're willing to take CPT off just one of their redundant FM repeaters, he can prove it. Then you put some billboards up and steak dinner boom, the real "voice of the fan" in opposition to the Boston homers at ESPN and the safe-players at CBS, and North and Chet are back on the air.

I could be totally wrong here, but I still maintain that this is the most likely outcome. Again, I think Arlington Heights has the strongest signal of the three, relatively speaking, and so if one of them were to flip, it would be that one (though being in the NW burbs I'm not sure if it reaches the White Sox fanbase at which they're surely aiming). We'll see.

I hadn't seen that station as a possibility, but I'll bet Nort's already trying to get that going. It makes business sense to stream the same feed over TV, Radio and the Web.

I do hereby request more details on "Oy Vey"...

After writing a bunch of crap about it, I googled it just for kicks and ohhhh shit, it's back. Sundays now, 2 to 4. I was under the impression, having called the station the time it was replaced with Dick Kay, that they were no longer doing the show ("they're no longer here..."click). This is great news. Here's what I wrote a couple minutes ago when I thought it was dead, hence some past tense:
---
Anyway. There's a place on the north side called Joey's Brickhouse. Just kind of a family restaurant but with big brunch specials (it's all-you-can-eat but at the end they tell you to tip based on how much food they brought you, and they actually tell you this to your face, as in they show you the bill and explain 1) how much you owe and 2) how much you would hypothetically owe were it not all-you-can-eat and to please add your 15-20% of the hypothetical bill, rather than the actual one. Is this SOP? This seems like what some would call a "straight-up bitch move" but whatever, we can debate the merits of this later if you please) and wacky decor. Maybe you've been there. I haven't, friends have.

Anyway, this particular establishment bought two hours a week on Saturday afternoons to do a show not about food, but about politics. The show was hosted by the two brothers who run the place, with the business guy driving the show and the chef chiming in when he could actually get a word in. Rounding out the show was their dad, who would also compete for airtime and then do an editorial (sort of a Roar of the Day with more stammering), and their mom, who would call in and add thoughts, though what they were I never ascertained. They're all Jewish, as you probably guessed by the name, and unfortunately they chose to manifest this in the form of a weird mean resentment for having grown up on the North Shore and hair-trigger accusations of antisemitism. Though that specific form of hate is still disgustingly widespread (hell, look around this board and the shows it covers), I felt there was some unfounded instigation on the host's part. Guilty parties should absolutely be called out, and they were, but this often made for uncomfortable radio when it unnecessarily arose.

Given that it was brokered time, they had no obligation to run any ads other than advertisements for themselves (like Norman Mailer!), but they hardly even did that. Mentions of the restaurant were sporadic, and so you'd get very close to two full hours of uninterrupted ranting about evil Republicans, the "more irrelevant white people" who ran against Obama, and various inconsequential bugbears of theirs, like various friends that "screwed" them, or Harvey Wells asking them what exactly was the purpose of their show if it had nothing to do with the restaurant and why weren't they paying their bills.

I get the impression that they're all good guys, but the show was just awful in so many ways. Poorly produced, meandering topics, and this weird self-indulgent feeling that has to come with buying two hours of time on the radio that are all yours to do whatever. I kept tuning in every week figuring that I caught them on a bad day and that they'd eventually make for some pleasant Saturday listening, but the show just got worse and worse until it disappeared in December. I wish I had taped it.

Sounds like a place to definitely skip. Owned by jerks with a stupid tipping policy to boot.

I'm glad I asked...

Now all I've got to do is get that B&B caller to call that show and ask...

"are you Jewish?!"

J Hood posted this on his facebook page

Think about it you can listen to Chicagosportswebio.com on your phone!

In the car, at the doctor's office, take your phone with you and listen to cswebio.com!

As electronically impaired as I am, I found out how to listen to cswebio.com on my phone. Believe me, if I can do it you can do it also. If you can't listen to our station on-line, here's how you can do it via the phone...

LISTENING ON MOBILE DEVICES
How can I listen on my iPhone?
In the Apps Store you will need todownload WunderRadio for iPhone. There is a one time charge from the software company of $4.99.

*Data charges from your provider may apply. Please consult your service provider for data options. We recommend an unlimited data plan for worry free streaming.

How can I listen on my Blackberry?
You first have to go to http://www.moodio.fm and register for a account (its free). Then search for Chicago Sports Webio.com and as a favorite station on Moodio.

Then open up your blackberry browser, enter m.moodio.fm into the address bar. Log into your Moodio account and CSW will show up as a favorite. At this point add this to your bookmarks for easy access in the future. Click on the station name, it will ask you to download a file, click "Start Download" and this will start the webio stream. Enjoy and tell your friends!

*We have tested this on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile. Seems to work best on the Verizon network. Other networks do work but buffering speed depends on provider.

Just looked at Google Finance. Sirius stock was worth $63.25 per share in March 2000, now $0.37.

That's because Mike North went to Webio not Satellite.

That's a brave step there, Dr. Ken. Many people on this board will bash you for saying that, but Sirius would be trading well over $350.00/share had North joined the team...

Predicted on April 10. Not just by me but I guess others on this board felt
that was the ultimate goal. I suggested such to "SpaceBall" himself in an
email, weeks before it went to the air.

Do you ever listen to that station? I haven't in a while but if Joe still has his own morning show, that is some great, hilarious amateur radio.

I suspect ol' Joe's signal isn't strong enough for Mike.

Not having th e 3G would lose the mobile aspect but I think it should work.
