Say whatever you want about Mike North...but who would have thought that he would decimate the Score on air talent like he has? Offman, Rogers, Huebbner, Weber, Doug & OB... North isn't a guy that you want working against you...and right now he is motivated. He is schooling Mitch right now... |

LOL!! really funny stuff. BTW, how do "steal" people who were let go? How's that paycheck from Dave Hernandez? Do you worry it will bounce? |

Sure he's doing a good job at picking guys off, he has that moron throwing around cash like crazy. That's the only reason any of those guys are going there. They can put "show host" on their resume instead of update guy or weekend fill in. They have a good paycheck for as long as that guy keeps it flowing and have a chance to up their profile instead of continuing to languish on the reputable stations. It's not like they really believe in North or his business model. It is a good career opportunity though for them long term and that's the only reason he's gotten so many guys. |

I can confirm from Fred that they're paid fairly well. That has more to do with a choice by North to spend money than anything relating to the Score having their talent "raided". In case you haven't heard, JK, the economy's in a small slump lately... oh, and I hope that Jesse's name and the word "talent" never end up again in the same sentance... |

I am not a fan of Mike North. But for a guy who sold hot dogs and then did a morning show, he has certainly assembled a pretty good line-up in short order. The whole webio thing sounds as professional as a traditional radio station, and it has legit talent aside from Boom Boom. I give Mike a lot of credit for cobbling that thing together. It's not like he is a Harvard MBA with 20 years of management experience in running a radio station. He is a Chicago street vendor turned host......I applaud his ambition. |

JohnKirk wrote: Say whatever you want about Mike North...but who would have thought that he would decimate the Score on air talent like he has? ... I would. He did a fantastic job of decimating it when he broke up not only the Monsters but also the Heavy Fuel Crew. That really was a turning point in SCORE history. |

Matt moved up, the others needed a job and weren't going to get one on any Chicago radio station. |

North didn't decimate the Score. All of those guys didn't matter and were replaceable. The Score replaced them all with a new batch of white ass holes making less money. Nobody has noticed a difference. The webio guys went there for less money than the Score was paying them cuz nobody else wanted them. It was the only place they could go. Hernandez said "C'mon guys. I'll lose money for your benefit." It's that simple. |

All I hear from North & his ass-lickers is, "Mike North MADE the Score, Mike North was the FACE of the Score, Mike North WAS the Score . . . " So WTF does it matter that he picked up a few marginal players from the Score lineup for Webio? The rest of the Score didn't amount to shit anyway, according to the North ALS. If North is so great and such a one-man show, why does it matter whether a George Ofman or some doofus straight out of ICB is doing reports or updates? North is god, North is king, so let him be the face of Webio and who gives a fast flying fuck who is his "supporting cast?" |

North has a fantastic ability to summon funds and freebies from suckers who either feel their jollies fulfilled in being associated with his glory or truly believe in the scheme he is peddling. This is show biz, this is how it works. Vanity is a strong motivator for a lot of people and North knows how to fruitfully exploit it. If I were a real estate or other pyramid scheme peddler, I would have loved to have North working for me. |

North used to do a lot of things, but now he is just Mr. Irrelevant. He's no longer a player in the sports world of Chicago. The number of people who hear or see him has become miniscule and those who do no longer take him seriously. |

I doubt that Hernandez forked overr a pile of money without putting a plan together. |

As far as Hernandez goes, do you honestly believe that his plan is to lose money? That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. |

If this was a half assed effort, then yes, CSW would have hired North and a bunch od 20 something youngsters and payed them $15K...but they didn't...they went out and hired people who understand the sports radion biz. CSW is a first class effort that is picking up speed and gaining credibility. |

And Ofman LOATHED working updates in the morning. Say what you will, but in the end the listeners, advertising, programming, accessiblity and profit will dictate who has won or lost between WSCR and Webio. As it stands now ESPN1000 is the ratings winner. |

JohnKirk, rather than creating yet another anti-Rosen thread, why don't you give us a detailed, show-by-show description of what the webio has to offer (other than MITM)? Since you might as well be on the webio payroll, and seem really invested in North's success, give me a reason to listen. |

You think Rosen destroyed the Score b/c the station "got rid" of North and bunch of second stringers. Never mind that CBS offered North a lucrative deal - despite a recent track record of failure - that, had he signed, might have cost additional WSCR employees their jobs after the Wall Street collapse. North turned down more than he deserved, and almost overnight resorted to scamming people with his gambling site. But none of that matters now. It's simple. We all want to listen to entertaining sports radio, right? Tell us concretely why the webio is a better alternative or quit your bitching. Just give us your opinion w/o talking about off-air issues. You seem to listen to B&B more frequently than you let on. Why? Wouldn't you rather listen to Chet and the Champ? Tell us why that show is worthier of our time than B&B or the Afternoon Saloon. |

Relax...I dont have to tell you anything. Your taking this a bit too serious dont you think? Just listen to who you like. Its pretty simple. Like I said, I dont care who you listen to, so I have no interest in writing a long and detailed message about the various shows, etc...I mean is that really necessary for sports radion? All you need to do is turn on the fucking station and listen...either you like it or not. This isnt rocket surgery or brain science... |

Post subject: | Re: North -VS- WSCR |
as has been written here before, Mitch tried his best to wrest Fred and George from the Score PR. He put George in mornings and Fred in the afternoons with the specific bent of making both of them mad enough to quit. It worked. North may end up being a beneficiary, or he may screw this up too. Tough to call at this point. |
